    • IPX6 water resistance rating, no charger
I just played my D9, for 10 hours, no downtime, half volume power, and still have 70 percent power left. A good 60W speaker system, well designed, durable, and a water resistant cabinet to boot. The equalizer is dual settings, with the bass incremented in one setting and the other is less bass, and more of the singing, and voice overs, going out clearly. I tried to listen to it on full power, bass EQ, and it was clear, no distortion, like some others, I own(ed). I move my unit in my backpack, so I removed the plastic handle, (the screws are at the bottom of the handle, hidden by a plastic cover, on both ends), if fits in my backpack easier. The case is made of durable plastic, which would withstand a sizable fall. My only shock to the system, was from the top of the roof of my home, (15 feet), fell to the grassy yard below. It would have done damage to the handle, if it were on, I believe. The unit sustained no damage. No operational problems at all. Luckily it did not drop on the passive radiator, on the back, it would is the most vulnerable spot. I tried to get warranty, using a card, that came with the unit. The website did not work, to do that, so I wrote them, and asked how do we handle this. support.amazon@w-king.com is the email I wrote to. They replied with an email, recognizing the failure of the warranty website, and asking that I keep and retain, the email, as a registration for a two year warranty. Now then I did send them my name, day of purchase, date of delivery, who I bought it from, and the number on the front of the box, the unit came from. I could not find a serial number, on the unit. Bare in mind, what you are getting for less than a hundred dollars. This is an excellent BT speaker, and a good price point, well researched and made. In comparison to my JBL, w-king wins. Upon ordering this unit, go ahead and order a charger, made by w-king. W-KING USB Charger, at Amazon, is where I got it. It comes with an old style usb port, (type A), I believe. It will hook up your C power at the box, and the A port, in the charger. This charger is a 5v, which is the max allowed in box, and it will have the usb Type A, needed to power up. Now then there is a charge cord, well made, braided line, with a type A usb on one end, and the C on the other for the box, included with the unit, along with a line for the jack, 3.5mm, to go wired. NO CHARGER though. If you have the type A usb acceptable charger, and its at least 5v, then you wont need a charger. So, we all know that ratings, for water resistance, are internationally known. IPX6 is listed, in the w-king description. It is also followed with: waterproof....now the standard does show a water resistance for 1 minute, from a .49 inch nozzle, from many different angles, with no disruption of operation, or loss of operation. This unit is not waterproof, but very water resistant. For the price, there is no way you are going to get waterproof, (immersion). Just know that it will put up with a little splash, dripping hands, some rain, or in my case a water bottle, in my backpack, leaking most of its contents, (8 to 10 ounces), all over the case. No issues. I would also recommend you dont play this unit, on its ends. Im not sure of the principals behind it all, but the unit did not sound up to my expectations, playing on its end. So dont stand them up on the ends, (unlike the D8, this one has no speakers on the ends), it changes the quality of the sound, lay flat on its gripper surface pads, and enjoy. I will buy another D9 and pair them up, to get true stereo. Best BT speaker for the money. I will buy more for my kids, as the need arises. Very happy. ... show more

    • Loud enough to drown out annoying neighborhood noise
****************************TWO & A HALF YEAR UPDATE************** The W-Kings were our favorite small, portable speaker until 3AM yesterday when they woke us up with the most god-awful deep rumble/screetch. And then the speaker terminally blew out. We'd been playing on repeat a white noise track on med-low volume. So we got about 30-months out of these speakers. We still have a pair of Bose desktop speakers pushing TWENTY YEARS that function perfectly. Plus, no annoying lights or ghastly-sounding tonal announcements when they're turned on/off. The W-King are our last Bluetooth speakers. Back to reliable, long-lived, tasteful wired-speakers. ****************************UPDATED REVIEW**************************** Four months in, our speaker's battery stopped accepting a charge. We were especially disappointed because we like the speaker much more than our Soundcore Motion+ or our desktop JBL. We reached out to the company and they sent us a new speaker. Fantastic customer service. If the replacement is as good as the original, we won't even use any of our other portable speakers anymore. The W-King is that outstanding. And you can trust the company to stand by their product. ***************************ORIGINAL REVIEW**************************** I didn't buy this for the quality and fidelity of its audio playback. I live in a very noisy space and for the past three years have been looking for a solution to allow me to work and sleep in my own space. Most BT speakers either have too short a battery life for them to be relied on, say, overnight while you're sleeping, 2) have glitchy BT signals (solved--just use 3.5mm AUX), 3) suffer from crackling/distortion at mid-to-high volume, or 4) are grossly underpowered so they seem more like toys for playing right next to where you're sitting. We've gone through over a dozen portable speakers in the last year alone. Not one supplied us the right mix of battery longevity, power, sufficient base, and stability at high volume. Until now. We were set on buying an Anker 50W portable speaker, but happened upon an online review for W-King in which the reviewer ranked it above the Anker speaker. Listening to the two speakers online (along with other comparable speakers), we agreed the W-King, a brand we'd never heard of before, sounded even better than the Anker--with a bonus of being $15 cheaper. So we grabbed this unit and we're glad we did. We tried the unit on its arrival today with a white noise track and with a selection of our favorite music. So far, we're very happy. While the speaker won't replace a dedicated audiophile home set up, it does a good enough job reproducing sound accurately across the low/mid/high spectrum that we're considering buying another for stereo sound. But where this unit shines is in volume & bass. We have a lot of heavy traffic by our house AND we can hear our neighbor's kids' very loud, thumping music as late as 2AM. So we got a white noise track from a company advertising here on Amazon, Boombuster, that already worked great with our other BT speakers. But on the W-King, Boombuster masks obnoxious noise even at "low" volume. A match made in heaven. Another thing we really like about the W-King is the way it handles high frequency sounds (violins...) equally well as it does low frequency sounds (cellos...). There's no compromise at all--no favoring one end of the spectrum. And while other speakers, even the large Klipsch 3.0 we purchased here on Amazon, have an ugly crackling with upper register piano notes, the W-King plays piano music (often problematic on most speakers we've used) crisply and cleanly--no distortion at all. Best of all, again, the vibrancy of BOTH high and low frequency sounds. Now that we've listened to this speaker for just an hour, we'll definitely be buying its twin for stereo sound. The sound quality and volume are second to none at the this power level we've found after looking (and trying then returning them dissatisfied) for three years.     • I Wasn't Sure What To Think At First
I bought 2 of these to dj with, and haven't tested them out at a venue or a house party yet, but I have used them in several environments, and I can tell you that they really are punchy and bassy. I take one everywhere with me in my SUV, I've tested it out in different rooms of the house, I've synced 2 to see how loud it gets, and I have noticed a couple of things to highlight. 1. They get loud, but not ridiculously overpowering, so that's a plus. The volume when turned to the lowest setting is still kind of loud, like for example, if you're trying to listen to music quietly, or at night. They sound great in my SUV. If you put one of these in a boxed in area, they bump so hard, for example, here, on the floorboard of my front passenger seat, yeah.... Boom boom boom boom. Thumps. So, you can get some super serious bass coming out of these if you put them in some kind of old school carpeted speaker box maybe? That's just an idea I'm thinking about doing for my gigs. They're ready to go right out the box. They take a while to charge, but with the sound these things are producing, the drawbacks (which aren't many) are heavily overpowered by the positive aspects that these speakers have. They're light, they're durable, they're easy to sync up, and they're great sounding. The price of these I would say is good, and if you order 2 of them, you definitely have a super great quality Left/Right audio mobile sound system that you can take with you on the go. You definitely need 2, but they're worth the investment. I strongly suggest that you pick these over all the other available options that are on Amazon. These really are king. Wow. ... show more
