It's a little pricey but what's it worth? A lot, as long as it works & I say that because it doesn't come with a test cartridge, it's a trust the manufacturer type of deal. I hope I never have to rate how it works. At my age fishing lakes & rivers alone it's a no brainer. It's a no brainer period. I've been on a boat that sunk, one that was swamped, fallen out of a boat, & knocked out of a canoe by a limb, only one of the four did I have time to grab a life vest & one did I have time to put on a life vest before goin in the water. The other two happened to quick there was no time to grab one. So I hope it works. That's why it got 4 stars across the board, no test cartridge. ... show more

So I used this vest kayaking in Class 1 rapids. Had to jump out of my kayak to help another kayaker and my unleashed paddle floated away. The current was brutal so I ripped open the velcro and inflated the vest using the tube just in case. 4 breaths and this vest was fully inflated and highly visible. This style makes siting in the bass boats seats so much more comfortable. Hardly know it’s on me. Wide belt around ribs is nice as it doesn't easily twist. Enough room is around the neck to not interfere with head movements or comfort.

Using this while fishing. I needed a PFD that was comfortable and out of the way, so when fishing I would leave it on. While running the boat, I needed something that would deploy automatically and roll me face up if I were to lose consciousness in the water.
