I have had a Bluesound Node 2i for a long time and picked this up with the battery pack to take my FLAC collection out on to the patio. (It is NOT weather proof! I have a covered patio!) The setup was simple. Similar to the Node 2i, it really just worked. The Bluesound app is a joy to engage with. The sound is what you want from an expensive self-contained speaker. It doesn't compare to a full stereo rack and never will. But it is still quite good. Nice separation, nice volume, bass...exists. You can purchase two of them and sync them so that you can actually listen to them in stereo. That seems like something you might consider spending money elsewhere on, though. Someone else's review mentioned a delay when using BlueTooth. I have not had that experience. I routinely use this to watch baseball and football games from my tablet while connected over Bluetooth and it works well. There are instances when I leave it in sleep mode for an extended period that it needs a couple minutes to cycle through it's startup routine to connect to the network. But it gets there and it works just like it is supposed to. Just to list things off, you can use this speaker to connect via wifi to your network MP3/FLAC collection, AirPlay, Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, MQA, Napster, Qobuz, Radio Paradise, and numerous others as well as a BlueTooth connection. I've been using this regularly for about half a year and am still truly enjoying the speaker and the app.

This does not work as a simple 3.5 mm aux cable or bluetooth computer side speaker! Even when in those modes it will use the wireless network meaning there will be about a 3 second delay between the audio playing on your computer and when it comes out of your speaker. For example, press play on a video, 3 seconds later the audio kicks in. Get a notification that last for less than 3 seconds and you wont hear anything! The notification is over while the speaker is still thinking about the wireless network and setting in the blue sound app, and if its software is up to date rather than just playing the audio that is being input. Every now and then this results in the audio being out of sync to the video you are watching! A problem I had with the Sonos 1 because it has no wired connection or bluetooth, so I put that in the kitchen and bought this one because it does have wired connections which should mean in sync audio but no, Blue Sound decided it should try to be a dumb smart speaker rather than just playing sound when sound is input. It would work as a remote speaker in another room, like if you have your computer in your bedroom but sometimes want to listen to music or podcast in the kitchen playing from the the computer or your phone, it should work well like that. In these regards its the same as a Sonos 1 and Bose SoundTouch 10. None of them work as simple computer speakers (all for different reasons, all sound great by the way) they all want you to Download app on phone, download app on computer, connect to wireless, enter password, press this button, then they try to be all smart and alexa-ish et cetera, rather than just working as speakers. From what I read, for a simple computer speaker with great sound, the best option will be an AudioEngine or top of the line Logitechs. Unfortunately I have run out of other rooms to put these half smart half dumb speakers that don't work as computer speakers.

"Burn it in" by loudly playing 100 hours of challenging music. Louder volume than you would normally listen. Burning in will open up the midrange and balance out the base. Excellent sound imaging even from a single speaker. Roon recognizes it as an endpoint. It decodes MQA files. Wifi connection is convenient, but slightly better sound from ethernet. Fiddly BluOS setup.

I like everything about these but the price. I tried to make them work as surrounds in a home theater setup but the Powernode 2i connection was not stable enough. They sound good enough to justify 300 bucks but not 600.

The sound is excellent. I bought it to replace my desktop speakers, finally I decided to use it at home as the living room speaker, it handles very well bass and treble sound. BT and wired connection work pretty well. I just need a second one to use them as stereo hifi sound. Easy connectivity with Spotify and Amazon Music. With these 2 new Pulse Flex that I bought, I have 4 BS devives (+ 1 Pulse Mini 2i and 1 Vault 2). Excellent HiFi sound, excellent frequency range response. I strongly recommend these speakers.

I bought this because I thought the company made higher fidelity sound products than the norm. I feel the sound is only acceptable for voice. For music, itโs too mushy.
