I received this beautiful tool late this afternoon. So of course, I had to immediately try it out! It was so much fun! I have grass that is natural to the glorious pine forest I live in the middle of. This grass has roots that can behalf as thick as my baby finger, or like the most tight knit spider web. It is drawn to the no turn garden beds I had to put in since our land is all sand. So I had to try it on the grass immediately! The tool cut through them like butter. I couldn't get my favorite to cut into these beds inch by inch with my fingers. Thank you for this fantastic tool!

Japanese style sickle. This is not a stainless steel blade. The description is accurate. I happen to like this feature because it makes it easy to sharpen. Don't leave it in the elements. (Like any other tool). Can't tell if the shank of the steel goes the length of the handle. This tool should last a lifetime if taken care of. Does ship with a clear vinyl blade cover.

I got this to clear small, seedling trees that were growing in my yard and occasionally through my deck. This thing is sharp and cuts through, up to, 1/2 inch trees with a couple swipes. My wife is a little scared of the little guy.
