i just got this today, it has been plugged in now for 2 hours and barely does anything, maybe one bubble movement at times, the base is VERY hot yet it still is not doing much of anything. Sadly, will likely have to return. UPDATE: After being plugged in for 3 hours the wax does NOTHING, yet the base of it is SUPER SUPER HOT as is the top. I would not recommend and will have to return this. When outside gets that hot something is NOT right. I used the bulb it came with so.....not a quality buy at all. ... show more

I admit that the description says it is 13", but that is counting the base and the bottle. The bottle is roughly the same size as a 12 oz beer or soda glass bottle. The socket for the bulb was bent so far over that the bulb wouldn't screw in. I carefully straightened the socket as best as I could with my finger. It still works after all of that but I'm not as satisfied with my purchase as I was expecting. You can tell this brand is made as cheaply as possible. Knowing all of this now, I wouldn't buy again. I will still use it and i'm not saying it's terrible. That being said, I would suggest to seek elsewhere if you want a higher quality lava lamp. ... show more
