The XR+ work great for extending the range. I did have a glitch on an update but simply installed the old sync unit to save all the cameras, then re installed the XR+ unit again and didn’t lose any cameras or have to start over as some other reviews have reported. The XR+ did the software update on installing so everything came right back up. This is a lot easier than installing all the cameras one at a time. Im sure blink will figure out what’s causing the update glitches. I’m impressed with the XR+ range. I have a 300 yard driveway (900 ft ) and the outdoor 4 camera has no problem reaching the house around 1200 ft total between them. I also like the fact I can make a hard recording on a micro sd card just in case I don’t want the subscription later. I think I might get some compatible solar panels next. The blink system makes it easy to customize and upgrade as you go and is super easy to set up. I’ve been impressed so far as to the versatility and ease of use blink offers.

Tread lightly— ** Review rating revised after a Amazon/blank representative reached out~ I’ve been a Blink customer since their very first product release. This just as an FYI on this new Sync Module XR— i’m returning to Amazon, but I spent a lot of time trying to get it to work and thought my experience might help others avoid lengthy troubleshooting… Spent an hour+ on a Blink Customers service chat, and rep would not move past the basic troubleshoot steps ie ‘is it plugged in?’ Etc. I replaced a working Sync Module XR with a new Sync Module XR+ (Model BSM00700U, DSN GNT5JP01624441JP) using the in-app replacement flow. Since then, Live View is broken or severely degraded across my cameras — 10–30 seconds to mount a stream, then roughly one frame every 10 seconds. Motion recording, clip playback, audio, and arming all work normally. Only Live View is affected. Reverting to the original Sync Module XR did NOT restore Live View performance, even though that same hardware in the same location worked before the swap. A factory-fresh test — new system, factory-reset XR module, factory-reset camera — reproduced the identical Live View failure on a clean configuration. This points to current firmware or server-side Live View handling introduced around the XR+ setup, not to my hardware, placement, or network. Current versions: Sync Module firmware 18.0.38; camera firmware 13.92 and 10.73. I have exhausted every user-side step (full list below). I am requesting escalation to engineering and confirmation of whether a Live View issue is known on this firmware. System details: approximately 10 cameras (Outdoor 4 and older generations mixed), Sync Module XR and XR+ both on the account during troubleshooting, iOS Blink app, dedicated 2.4 GHz SSID. APPENDIX — TROUBLESHOOTING PERFORMED 1. In-app Sync Module replacement flow (XR to XR+), completed successfully per app confirmation 2. Confirmed old module unplugged; no dual-module conflict 3. Removed local storage card from module to isolate 4. Verified module LEDs solid blue + green; module shows Online in app 5. Force-quit and relaunched app; pull-to-refresh; waited 10–15 minutes for firmware 6. Power-cycled the XR+ module (30 seconds) — multiple times 7. Power-cycled router and modem 8. Verified module on correct 2.4 GHz SSID (green signal in Blink's own network scan) 9. Checked per-camera Camera Network settings; switched eligible Outdoor 4 cameras between Extended Range and Wi-Fi — no improvement in either mode 10. Verified per-camera diagnostics: battery OK, Network Strength green, Connection to Sync Module full bars — Live View still fails on those same cameras 11. Replaced batteries where low 12. Re-ran Change Wi-Fi Network flow on module after modem reset; rejoined successfully 13. Factory-reset the original Sync Module XR and ran the replacement flow back to it — cameras transferred, recording works, Live View still degraded 14. Created an entirely new system with a factory-reset XR module and factory-reset camera — same Live View failure on a completely clean configuration 15. Confirmed the fault boundary: motion clips record and play back perfectly (video and audio); Live View alone fails

The XR+ Sync Module is fabulous. I installed it (very easy setuip) and the range is so good that I was able to remove two older sync modules that were necessary due to distance and the fact that my narrow house is 270 feet long and is made of 10-15 inch logs. I have 9 cameras hooked up to this module, including Outdoor 4 Outdoor 3 and mini 2K+ units (mostly outside of the house). The furthest camera (an Outdoor 4) is 190 feet away from the module and is behind a stable's front and back 2" timber walls; even so, the camera gets a full signal to the XR+ sync module which is inside the house on a windowsill. I'm very impressed and will get another XR+ module to handle the rest of my Blink cameras on the other half of the house and lot, including ones that are 400 feet away. The Outdoor 4 camera is a lot better than Outdoor 3 with much better motion sensitivity and picture quality, but I wish Blink would sell a pan/tilt version for use insde and outside for which I would pay a 50% premium.

Very easy to set up it shows two different choices, WiFi or extended range and I chose WiFi and it did not let me down. I had the regular XR. It had to be on extended range to get where I wanted it to down the road, this XR+ goes way farther. I’m using the system 4 cameras . I put the extender in my garage on because it’s an outside wall. It’s out of the weather so I don’t have it to have a special connector at the present time. I have two different units running the XR+ I’d probably recommend it.”

Bought on amazon a prime day and just got it. I new it was going to take a long time when I ordered it. Setup was VERY easy, as most blink setups are. I set it up in my basement to run it for a couple of weeks before I put it where it will live. I will not be putting the Blink Outdoor Sync Module XR+ outside but it is nice to no I could. The Outdoor 4 Camera will be replacing an older camera that is working fine. But The Outdoor 4 Camera are so good. I have a very large Blink setup with I think 10 different Zones (Sync Modules) and a lot of cameras. I like being able to see every were in, out and all around my house. (Not the bathroom or the bedrooms) but everywhere else. When we go on vacations I can keep a VERY close eye on my house. That gives me great comfort. Blink just has a GREAT setup that is easy to maintain at a very reasonable price.

1-Star Review: Absolute Garbage - Blink Outdoor 4 with XR+ Extender is Useless Do NOT buy these. I’ve had the Blink Outdoor 4 cameras with the XR+ extender hooked up for exactly 3 days and I’ve already had to unplug the whole connection two days in a row because they keep going offline. What kind of security camera system is this? These are supposed to make you feel safe in your own home, right? They do the exact opposite. One minute they’re “connected,” the next they’re completely dead and not recording anything. No alerts, no footage, nothing. I might as well hang up a fake plastic camera for all the good these do. Setup was a pain, the app is laggy and confusing, and the “extended range” XR+ extender is apparently useless because the signal drops anyway. For what these cost, I expected something reliable that actually works. Instead I’m babysitting a bunch of worthless electronics that can’t stay online for 24 hours. Blink should be embarrassed selling this. Save your money and look for something else. These cameras provide zero peace of mind and maximum frustration. Complete waste of time and money.

Range is not meeting expectations. The claim is up to 1700 ft on XR+. I'm getting very weak signal stength to camera at 300 ft. Perhaps a couple of trees in signal path. Perhaps that's the issue. However I thought it would be better. I found that at about 250 ft from Sync module the signal dropped off scale. Tried Extended range and Extended + range. Same results. Moved camera. Moved Sync module. Same results. Instructions stink. Gotta dig around on line to find out where to insert microSD card. No hardware to mount sync module to wall. Again had to dig around online to find out that there is no bracket to mount sync module. It is intended to lay flat on a table.
