I have a 10w solar panel already, but it ONLY has a USB-A connection and is about twice the size and weight of this unit. So, this unit is about the size of a half-sheet of paper when closed, and definitely lighter than my older one, but I suspect my older one is a bit tougher, not that this one won't do the job. This unit has both a USB-C and USB-A port, both outputting the same watts and amps, so you aren't going to get better performance using USB-C. What it does do is allow you to only have to carry around a USB-C to USB-C cord for convenience, though one should have a USB-A cord handy for certain equipment. Seems to work as expected for a 10w panel, as I'm currently testing it. I've found best performance for charging with a solar panel is to charge a battery bank and not to the electronic device directly. Many phones require a specific Amperage and wattage that can't be guaranteed from smaller solar panels. In my testing, my phone would try and charge but stop, just repeating this process causing my phone to get excessively hot. I bought this unit for its cost and size factor. It should be much easier to carry around then my older unit because it's so much lighter, plus the cost isn't so much that if I manage to break it my wallet isn't screaming. Only time will tell how well it holds up, but the form factor definitely makes it nicer for day-to-day use. When testing my old one, I managed to completely charge a 10kmAh bank within a day. That was unattended so I don't know how much more I might have been able to charge. This is probably enough to keep all your electronics charged under normal use.

The media could not be loaded. Hands down this device will save you in a bind. You can charge your phone anywhere as long as there’s some sunlight. I don’t know if it works with artificial sunlight, but the moment that the panels hit the sun, the charging begins. I think the downside is that it doesn’t store any power And when you try to sit it up in a triangle, there is no attachment on the opposite side of the D rings to secure it. It doesn’t come with the lightning attachment so if you still have those version of the phone, you want to make sure you have that cord stored in the pouch otherwise it’s lightweight. It’s adorable. It can be carried anywhere. It works on contact. And I don’t know the full charging time because my phone has not been close to dead when I’ve used it, but it charges pretty fast.

Be aware that 10 watts is really slow, it takes a couple minutes in full sun to put your phone up 1%. I got this to put in the car window to keep a small fan charged to blow in the back seat at my dog when driving, or to blow out a cracked window when parked. It’s much better than those solar window fans that only barely work in full sun. This charges a small fan battery even in partial shade. It’s good quality for the price, light, and folds up small. Overall, perfect for tiny charging jobs, and suitable for a long hike or short camping trip.

This item does not charge. After leaving it in sunlight. Even charging it with a wall charger, it does not work. The red light is on but when I plug it into my phone, tablet etc.. it will not charge. I bought it in case the power went out and I have not been. Able to use it. I have tried everything. Multiple types of chargers c , USB etc. It does not work.

Functionally, the device works to spec when connected (will get to that later). Indicator light turns on when enough sunlight is available, giving you a clear indication of when it can be used for charging Late afternoon (5PM California Sun - Outdoor, directly in sun, ~8W peak - Inside car, on dash top, flat, 0.8W to 2W peak during driving. (Expected, due to losses through glass. - Inside same car, but pressed against glass, 3W ~ 4W peak. Acceptable losses through glass. Same results when pressed against sunroof. If you are harvesting power into a power bank either for later use, or to supply backup power to other actively used devices in a car, it CAN be reasonably reliable depending on your placement. But for it's intended outdoor use? No brainer. Works, good conversion rate. Delivers power with actually useable charge rates. The ONLY two downsides to me are that 1: the charge ports are facing inwards towards the storage pocket, so you'll want to have an L shaped adapter if the pocket is holding anything bulky. And 2: the USB C port is too loose. Either by fault of the port design itself, or distance between edge of port vs body casing, no USB C cable will reliably hold in place (I've tried many, from cheap leading up to my high end PD cables). This was the dealbreaker for me, since USB C was the intended use.
