    • You'll get out what you put in...
We use the Blast Sensor a handful of times each week. It gives us a good baseline on habits and helps us find areas to work on. The drills that you'll find online are better than the ones that Blast themselves tell you to do. I wouldn't consider this any sort of a "training program" rather just the measuring device. Like anything else, you'll get out what you put in. If you use it as a baseline it's great to see improvement over time. If you think it will cure swing flaws, well, it won't - that requires work and tons of reps. The only frustrating part of the sensor is response time when pairing and losing connection. It will randomly not want to pair. When tee or cage time is at a premium, you want to get going right away, not fiddle around with pair a sensor or selecting the right bat. Be aware there's a bit of a learning curve there - BUT all in all we really like the sensor and the tangible results it can document. Gives hitters a great sense of accomplishment to improve metrics and performance over time. ... show more

    • This might not be for everyone,
First the main drawbacks of this product. In order to get all the features out of this swing sensor you have to buy the subscription, you get a two week trial to try it out but then after that its either pay for a year or a month to month plan. It is $60 for a year or $6.95 a month and they only allow one user extra users are another $6.95. I have had some issues with the launch monitor feature of this product, I have a hard time capturing any launch data on swings. The only way I am able to capture it, is indoors, outdoors it will not work for some reason and the app also gets very problematic when trying to get out of video mode to go back into app to review data. The sensor is small and though the rubber mount for the bottom of the bat does protect it somewhat I wouldn't suggest using it in a game due to how bats are always being thrown around, dropped mixed in with the dust and dirt could cause damage to it. That being said however there are some real benefits to this product that can help, but knowing what the numbers are telling you is the key. This sensor gives you several metrics and Blast does do a good job of organizing the information but the descriptions given by Blast on what the metrics values mean isn't very detailed. However after some reading on my own I was able to find out more on what each metric was and it has been very helpful. This should be used on a consistent basis to get any real value out of it. ... show more

    • Nice but pricey
The Blast Baseball swing analyzer is an amazing piece of technology that has my 9yo nephew taking 200-300 swings a day without prompting. He wants to get his scores higher like it is a video game. After purchasing it, you'll have to pay for a subscription. The coach subscription allows you to monitor multiple players and gives more features than the player subscription but it is also more expensive. If you purchase this for yourself or your kid and want all of the features such as exit Velocity and launch angle you'll need to purchase the coach and player subscription, which can get pricey. Still cheaper than Rapsodo though. ... show more

    • Great hitting tool and value with all necessary applications included!
This product works perfectly and, without any additional cost, includes all necessary measurements as follows: bat speed, peak hand speed. vertical bat angle. time to contact (from start of swing) and power generated. This device provides reliable immediate audio feedback on iPhone for bat speed after each swing and a graphic representation of the swing. It encourages frequent and productive practices. I bought for 13 year old son and he loves it as it challenges every swing, competing with himself and even a setting to place his own goals. I understand there are even more applications which may be purchased as "premium services" (a subscription), but these are extra features which are likely a good value for some players or coaches.     • It's making me a better hitter
I'm really happy with the product. A wealth of useful data, helpful videos about how to interpret it, drills to make improvements. Video capture allows you to study your swing and connect strengths and flaws to their outcomes. I've also been blown away by the customer support. I had an issue with the sensor not charging (turned out to be a defective 3rd party cable). I reached out for help on a Sunday, figuring I'd get an email response the next day. Instead, I got a call minutes later from a very helpful Blast rep who talked me through what to do, and gave me his cell in case I had more issues! Who does that? I was certainly impressed. There are minor things that could be improved, for example I wish the 3d swing tracer was available on Android (apparently it only works with iOS currently), and some of the navigation between metrics and swings could be easier. But these are small things relative to the teaching power of this app. ... show more

    • Overly complex for teenager to use- so they dump it
This tech is likely great for "that dad" living vicariously through and micromanaging their child, but neither my son or his teammates, nor his summer ball coach, nor his hitting coach, nor his HS coach will use this for anything more than measuring swing speed. All the plane/connection/rotation elements work fine, but don't result in better contact in the real world. The upload of swings into the website is unreliable- we've lost dozens (hundreds?) of videos I have taken. Perhaps worst of all, getting the exit velo to actually work is sketchy. We set up in our well-lit facility, tried dozens of times, called Blast, and it is a fools errand. When it is working it misses most contact, says ground balls are line drives. I'd estimate it's worked less than 5% of the times we've tried, so we just gave up using it for anything more than fun calculating swing speed. It's a sunk cost for the unit, and for $60 it's fun for the kids. It's just not as effective as Hittrax (understandably a more expensive system, but it actually works). Save your money and go to a Hittrax facility for exit velo and other metrics. This is good for swing speed. The rest? Meh... ... show more
