Features

  • SILKY SMOOTH COLORING! The buttery, smooth tips of these colored pencils practically purr across the page of your favorite adult coloring book or drawing. The soft, wax points lay down color evenly for beginners to fine artists with very little pressure or friction - even on delicate paper. These pencils are water soluble and are not meant to be used as watercolors as such.
  • VIBRANT COLORS WITHOUT DUPLICATES! 24 vivid colors, shades and hues in this set. Colors like Venom, Purple Haze and Blood Diamond are pre-sharpened ready to pop off the page. Every color pencil is labelled with a clever name and number code on the barrel, and theres a convenient color chart inside the lid of the tin packaging.
  • RICH PIGMENTS THAT BLEND AND LAYER LIKE VELVET! These coloring pencils have a wax core which means they blend, shade and layer seamlessly without smudging or strain. The deep, rich pigments result in a creamy, velvet finish and blend beautifully even on black paper.
  • PENCIL CORE DOESNT BREAK WHEN SHARPENED! The soft wax core and tips of these art colored pencils dont crumble and break when sharpened or when pressing down to extract darker shades when blending. This means less sharpening is needed, so the tips of your colored pencils stay sharp longer.
  • COMFORTABLE TO HOLD AND COOL TO DISPLAY! The sleek barrel of these colored pencils is Cobra black, which adds elegance and a touch of cool to your art supplies. The hexagon shape means the pencil is more comfortable in your hand for drawing, needs less pressure for the colors to lay down and best of all, they wont roll off your drawing table.

  • Love these.
The colors are great. No problem with point breakage. Not as soft as the Prismacolor but blend very well. I use these more than any of my other brands of pencils.

  • Gotta get them all . . .
This review speaks to the entire range of these pencils to include this particular item: There are five sets of color pencils in the Black Widow line: Monarch (48 ct), Dragon (36 ct), Black Widow (24 ct), Scorpion (24 ct) and Cobra (24 ct) and then an additional two set for skin tones (light and dark). I've spent my evening swatch ALL of them while watching the last 2/3 of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Things I like about these pencils: The cores are hard. Not one of them broke, even after I sharpened them. After primarily using Prismacolors recently, which have notoriously brittle tips, that was incredible. I love the colors - so many greens and and pinks. I enjoy the theming - as the naming of the pencils sort of reflect the theme of the box. For instance, the dragon set has pencils called Serpent, Blue tongue, gold dust, cobblestone and castle. The colors in the Monarch set are more muted - kind of forest-y in color. Things I'm a little "meh" on - Because the cores are so hard, they are a little scratchy in the lay down--they even sound like a graphite pencil. Some colors lay better than others, but you've got to put down several layers to cover the tooth of the paper. Some of the colors are not blended well. For instance, I noticed earlier this evening as a I swatching a blue-green color that you could actually see both blue and green on the swatch. Perhaps it was the blend, or maybe it was because the core was so hard, it didn't blend out in the coloring. Don't know. Will any of that prevent me from using my pencils? Nope. If they come out with a new set, will I buy it? You bet. It's a fun - I would say fantasy-oriented- collection. The pigments are bright, and they're sold at a modest price point. If your adult coloring is casual, I would definitely recommend. ... show more

  • Awesome soft core pencils -you’ll love
I want to give an honest review so others can make the best decisions on pencil choices.. First I’m just a regular person who bought the full set including skin tones & new monarch set.. A MUST OWN SET 🥰🥰 Honest -most people will find these workable and enjoyable no matter your level of artistic skill. A must own !!!! Onto pencils.... Whoever said these are soft like PRISMA premier are mistaken. ( these are soft but different in a good way) Not taking away from anyones comparison but they just are not as creamy. But they are buttery, smooth &!highly blendable they are a nice softness. So, don’t get me wrong these are GREAT but these are not in that super soft league of pencils. These fall in between Arteza, black widows and PRISMA level of softness and layering ability. I believe these are that perfect middle we strive for. BRIGHT & UNIQUE COLORS ARE AWESOME !!! These pencils do have a level of fantastic colors with rich pigment and they are a PERFECT SET OR addition to your PRISMA set or Arteza set or other wax based set. SOFTNESS/BLENDING/CORE STRENGTH The cores are a bit harder not in how they lay down but in how they handle, sturdy, will sharpen to a nice point and you can apply more pressure and still have the buttery lay down without breaking the lead or a huge wax bloom. I do notice some minor dusting but this is expected, it’s still a pencil after all :) Blending these was easy and easily blended with my PRISMA premier set and Arteza set they play very well with each other adding POP and depth to my Pictures... COST -THE BIGGEST POINT NEXT TO APPLICATION For around 120.00 you can get all of the tins including the skin tones - so these rank right up up there with PREMIUM PRICE but well worth it !! They do break these out in sets for affordability. So, you can buy sets as you go instead of all at once, which is a nice aspect. And each set is unique no repeat colors..🥰 The tins are nice but most of us don’t use these for long term we put them in easier access containers or cases. So if I were to suggest anything it would be ship these in a pencil case that holds all 144 colors and then sell replacement color family kits in tins. A thought . Maybe add a breakdown of colors for sale such as reds/browns, blues/grays etc.... replacement tins of color families would be great.. All in all I will keep these and see how they perform long term, I’m happy with the performance and softness These are right in that happy middle.. ... show more
