  • Brrrrrrr!!
Color: White - 8000 BTU Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
We have a small room of about 120 sq ft that contains 3 PCs which dual function as space heaters. This room already stays fairly warm all on it's own, just to be clear. The PCs simply make the room warmer if not outright hot. This is great in the winter, as we can regulate the room temp by merely opening the window and using a fan or two. However, come late spring, the temps begin to hit 60+ F and higher this room can start becoming unbearable with two or three space heaters running. When the temps are 90 F and over, forget about it. Unless, of course, you're seeking that extra dry sauna experience and don't mind it costing you a new graphics card and possibly a new CPU as well. So we picked up this little bad boy hoping it would assist us in overcoming our desperation by providing the chill we so desire and our poor PCs so desperately need. This little thing is super easy to setup and install. As others have mentioned, depending on your window size, you may need to trim one of the insert pieces. Our windows slide horizontally and the insert was, quite fortunately, just the right size. Had the window been even an inch shorter we would have had to trim the insert extension so that it would not clip the hose. The included foam strips were nice, but a bit thin. You may need to double them up or even get some thicker padding to get a good seal. We waited 24 hours to turn it on but when we did, let me tell you that the tears of joy began to flow like Niagra Falls. With the unit set up and in place, we turned it on. The arctic blast that it produced felt nothing short of amazing. Not miraculous, mind you. Don't expect to keep your snowman best friend alive year round. But it is amazing! I set it to 66 F, let it run for an hour, and then began to stress test my PC to see if the temps would be lower than usual. The answer was filled with happy expletives but it essentially boils down to Yes! Yes it keeps the room and the PCs much cooler. My PC was testing at a minimum 10+ C cooler than before, even after three consecutive stress tests. The AC unit does produce some noise, but we find it more than acceptable given it's ability to keep the room cool. Later on we fired up two of the three PCs and started up a game that we know can push the computer temps up. After an hour of playing, when the room would normally be getting uncomfortable, we were literally just chillin' out and the PCs were running great at well under their usual operating temps. So we have been running this unit almost every evening and sometimes during the day too. Our warmest day has been about 80 F but I have no concerns when it comes to this thing keeping pace at 90 or even 100 F. If I'm wrong, then I will edit my review, but I'm feeling pretty confident that day will not arrive. For now, we are running it at 68 F when we turn it on and it is splendid to say the least. My only real complaint is that the screen on the remote doesn't work properly unless you pinch one corner of the remote down rather hard. Granted, we understand that this is likely a fluke and not indicative of most units. We honestly don't really use the remote so it's largely been a non-issue, but I could see it being a real disappointment and extreme inconvenience for some people, especially if they have mobility challenges. Overall, a great unit though. So do we: like it? Yes! recommend it? Yes! love it? Pretty much yes (but we're not going to marry it.) want a 2nd one for our bedroom? Yes yes yes! Despite the lost stars for the remote, we feel that the unit truly deserves an overall 5 stars as it is easy to set up, easy to operate, and works really well. Will be ordering another of the same (or possibly slightly more powerful) for our bedroom. ... show more

  • Works great, very cold
Color: Black/Champagne Size: Small
Works great. No thermostat to adjust but will stop cooling at 64 degrees Fahrenheit. Only draws 225 watts while in high cool mode, 10 watts on high fan. I vented it outside using a a small sheet of styrofoam and some spray foam through an open window. Cardboard would work too. It will cool whatever’s in front of it by removing heat from the front and expelling it to the rear so If you don’t vent it it will not cool the room just whatever is in front of it. Smallest btu unit I could find that wasn’t $600+. ... show more

  • cools fast
Color: White - 10000 BTU Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
i bought this for my 250 square foot master bedroom. My house has 3 levels, and my master bedroom is on the upper level and it struggles to cool down. my thermostat has remote sensors that can be used to control the heating and cooling in specific rooms at programmed times. I have my thermostat set up to "look at" the remote sensor in my master bedroom starting at 7pm in order to make sure my room is cooled before going to bed. the central air will run for 4-5 hours, or more, in order to reach the programmed temp. this doesn't seem to be very cost effective. this portable unit has my bedroom cooled down in about 30 minutes. the central air now runs a fraction of the time it used to. the window kit could be a little more beefy. i had an issue with the exhaust hose pulling at it and creating gaps between the window kit and the window and window frame. i notched the window kit a little bit in order to fit in the slots of the window frame so that it doesn't pull out. this was easy since the window kit is made of plastic. I wish the vent hose was a little more flexible so it could be easier to position the air conditioner unit without pulling on the hose. there are people that complain about the noise. My response to that, its an air conditioner that sits inside your room, not outside or halfway outside a window. of course you will hear the compressor. we have a pedestal floor fan that we run at the same time to help circulate the air, and the noise from the air conditioner isn't much louder than that. so, people, expect a little bit of noise. a good window fan at full speed is going to be louder than this thing. i have ran this unit now for 3 nights, and haven't had a message for the condensate tank being full. so the self evaporative system must work pretty well. i haven't had any leaks like some people complained about. But, i made sure the drain plugs were tight and, just in case, i cut down a plastic tote my wife wasn't using to a height just below where the exhaust hose hooks up, and have the unit sitting inside the tote. my room is carpeted, so if it were to leak, i don't want it soaking my carpet. i did purchase an insulating sleeve for the exhaust hose. it works well to keep the hose cool and prevent the heat from radiating back into my room, but honestly i haven't noticed any difference in how often it runs or how quickly it cools. i do have the unit as close to the window as i can get it to keep the hose short though. the only reason i didn't give it 5 starts is because it doesn't seem to have much of a temperature swing. it comes on when it senses the temp has risen by 1 degree and shuts off when it reaches temp again, because of this, it can go on and off quite a bit. having a programmable temperature swing would be nice. all-in all, a good unit. 10,000/6,000 btu unit cools a 250 square foot room very quickly. I feel like it would work fine on a larger room. just keep shades pulled, doors closed, keep the exhaust as short as possible, and use a floor fan and ceiling fan to help circulate the air. ... show more

  • Wish I could turn off power saving.
Color: White - 10000 BTU Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
This unit’s priority is power saving not cooling. It eventually will get to the temperature you ask it to be at, but it will take quite a while, or you will just need to leave it on and never turn it off. When the room is 80 and I set it to 69 it turns on for a minute or two and the compressor turns off “Now 79” and then a couple minutes later the compressor turns back on. I replaced this unit thinking it was bad and the new one does the same thing. If you want something that turns on and only turns off when it gets to the correct temperature do not buy this product. So, when running normally it turns on and off all the time. Every time it turns off it has a small bang. So, it is also not quiet. I have been using this for over a year. I will not buy another. ... show more
