Where to start? Okay first, why is Amazon even allowing this mower company to sell their junk. Come on Amazon, obviously you don't actually read any of these reviews! BUYER BEWARE AND OVOID THIS ONE! Second, the mower isn't made by Black & Decker. It's made by MTD for B&D to slap their stickers on! The mower directions don't mention that you Will Have a problem pulling the handle up from below the deck. About 8" of it stick below the deck next to the cutting blade. Mine wouldn't move more then 1/4" upward. I had to use a rubber mallet and block of wood to bang on the bottom of the each side of the handle slowly (about an 1" for each and repeat). Even then, I could only get it up to the edge of the hole at the bottom of decking. That leaves about 1 1/2" to 2" still stuck. [see attached photos] It's important to get that handle out to the right position because you have 2 long screws with a hand twist that needs to lock down. (safety). I original called B&D but a nice tech fellow there gave me the info about MTD making the mower and their customer service number to call. I've now been on hold for almost 2 hours waiting for MTD service someone to answer. I need to talk to a tech person at MTD so I'm sure the initial person will just route me for another LONG WAIT. Just lost the line and dial back all I'm getting is gift card offers and other junk crap My rating has dropped from 3 to 2. May 18, 2021. Finally found a wood dowel that fit the hole and got the handle moved up so I can use the 2 hand screws with tops to tighten down the handle. Now I don't have to worry about the vibrations causing the handle to sink down and hit the spinning blade. The mower is tough to push through the 1 foot + grass/weeds out in the front of the house. Not great having to do this when the temp has reached 80 degree and in the full sun, but needs to get it done. I'm thinking the mulching mode for the sides of the house as the grass is lot lower there. The mower actually cuts very well.

Great little mower cranks easy lightweight I actually had the same mower for the past 6 years but it was a murry but absolutely the same thing painted red Iām pretty sure mtd makes all of them just keep the grass clippings cleaned out from underneath the deck my murry still ran great but the deck completely rusted to pieces to the point the whole plastic piece on the front fell off

I had a Yard Machine brand lawn mower but after 3 years it would start chocking and turned off, eventually would not start, bought this machine thinking it was self propelled but decided to give it a try and the wheels really helped with the terrain, overall a very good machine and easy to start

Slight problem initially starting mower. I called support which was a bit dubious. I finally figured out on my own the mower handle was slide in the body for shipping blocking the blade. It slid out easily & bolted it in. I was initially disappointed it had no primer button but the rope starter pulls easily & starts on 1st or 2nd pull. My one disappointment, I wish it had come with a sponge filter instead of paper. Would have preferred to pay the small extra charge when I purchased the mower. I've only used it 4 times so can't speak to durability or longevity. I was looking for a cheap replacement for my 15 yr old mower. I use it only for trim mowing, my rider does the rest. For my needs it's perfect.....easy start, light weight to maneuver, runs quietly.

Thus is my first lawn mower, so the prep (assembly etc) was fairly exhausting and stressful for me But it was all worth it once I took my newly assembled, oiled, and fueled LM out in the yard. The engine runs beautifully, the unit is relatively light, and fuel capacity is right on the dot to mow all yard areas in one afternoon. Very happy with the new household addition!
