Wonderful chicken wire that can be used with baby chicks or bigger chicks because the wire is the perfect size for holding both in a pen. My husband and I just started raising a second flock of hens and they’re growing but not quite big enough to be placed in the pen with the larger flock. They’re only about a month old so quite small still and we were afraid to put them in with the bigger hens. So, this chicken wire was so useful for us. We created a small pen inside the larger pen for the smaller hens to live for a while until they get better acquainted with the larger hens and we can be sure the bigger laying hens won’t hurt the smaller hens who need a bit of time before they can be expected to lay. The pen was a rough and small placement for the smaller hens, but it turned out to be just what we were hoping for. They are happy and content in their new home and the larger hens are leaving them to themselves. They’re quietly getting to know one another. The Bad: Not enough for a big pen, but you can buy more. The Best: this works great for a small encloser for chickens or rabbits or any small sized animal you want a pen for. I recommend this chicken wire to anyone needing a chicken pen.

This pliable, sturdy wire is useful as a support for beans and more lightweight vine crops that I will be growing next year in my already-deer proof garden. I will need to build support structures for them, as this wire will need to be attached vertically. It’s just not tall enough horizontally to use in this manner. It bends and flattens easily. It should be simple to attach segments together to create the panels, which can be stapled to the frames. My kitchen scissors will cut through it but that was just a test. My husband confessed that he wants to build a little chicken enclosure, but we shall see! It’s not strong enough to support my heavy cane berry vines. I was hoping this would be strong enough for this but the wire sacrifices strength for flexibility. It's versatile enough that I’m sure I will find other uses for it. I want to do papier mache art and this wire may work—I’ll try it. It’s not the fault of the listing, which accurately describes it as more appropriate for containing chickens and small animals (although I think bunnies may be able to chew through this gauge. I’m happy, though, that it will still work for some vine crops, and my poor droopy clematis. I’ve been delaying my veggie vines for years because I didn’t have the supplies for them—now I have this wire and no more excuses! I missed the growing season this year, but I can’t wait to post crop pictures next year. Look closely at this listing before buying. I picked up this Jia Long Garden 19‑gauge chicken wire in the green PVC‑coated version, mainly because the listing highlights several features that set it apart from the usual lightweight poultry netting. The roll is advertised as heavier 19GA wire, double‑twist hex mesh, and PVC‑coated for better weather resistance, which on paper should make it sturdier and longer‑lasting than the common 20–22GA options. In practice, the material is still fairly easy to bend and deform. In fact, mine arrived with a noticeable defect: about a 4‑inch‑wide section running almost the entire length of the roll was stretched out and distorted straight out of the package. The hex pattern in that area was elongated and didn’t match the rest of the mesh. The opposite end had a similar issue, though on a smaller section. While the wire is usable, the deformation definitely takes away from the “heavy‑duty” impression the specs suggest. For my purpose — protecting a garden bed from stray cats digging, it worked fine. The mesh is functional, easy to shape, and the green PVC coating blends in well with plants, making it visually unobtrusive. The coating should also help with rust resistance over time. However, if someone needed this for a chicken coop, decorative fencing, or any project where appearance and uniformity really matter, the distortion would be disappointing. The product has good advertised specs, but the quality control on the roll I received didn’t fully match the expectations set by those details. It certainly doesn't feel as robust as I expected. It's a decent value but quality isn't up to par.

This 19 gauge PVC coated chicken wire has worked out perfectly for what we needed. We used it to make a protective circle around a new plant so the rabbits couldn’t get to it, and it has been completely effective. It’s sturdy enough to hold its shape, but still flexible enough to form a clean enclosure. I really like that it’s green because it blends right into the yard and you barely notice it once it’s in place. It doesn’t stick out or look harsh in the garden, which is a nice bonus. We’ve also used it to create a small enclosed area for ducks that don’t fly, and it worked just as well for that purpose. The PVC coating seems durable and gives extra peace of mind that it won’t rust easily, and it also makes it safer to handle so there’s less risk of scratches. I had a groundhog dig under my garden fence and used this to patch and reinforce the area. It worked. There have been no repeat visits since and I’m no longer finding chewed up plants. The wire is bendable enough to shape around a hole without a lot of effort and cuts cleanly with wire cutters. The ends are a little sharp when cut so gloves are worth it. The mesh is tight enough to keep most critters out. I used zip ties to connect the wire fence to my existing fence but I’m sure there are other options also. The green coating blends into the garden well, so it is not obviously patched looking. One roll was the right amount for a fence repair job, with some left to spare if my veggie thief returns.
