  • nice job
it has a nice color for a black powder pistol I made. Good finish.

  • Birchwood Casey Rusty Walnut Stain
This stuff is great! I had tried a different stain prior and ended up having to redo the work. The ability of this stain to quickly and EVENLY penetrate the wood is excellent and leaves a beautiful color. I wanted a walnut color but preferred a deep red/orange tint and this was perfect for my old hickory gunstock. It's water based so raises the grain a bit but a follow up with the Birchwood Casey Sealer/Filler worked great. I'd definately use this product again. The entire Birchwood Casey line will not disappoint you. ... show more

  • The best for a high quality, rich finish most wood projects.
The best for obtaining a high quality finish on wood rifle stocks and other wood projects. Don't leave the cap off for to long or it will skin over and can form clumps. I avoid this by poking a tiny hole in the seal under the cap and squirt a small amount into a plastic 1oz. medicine cup to work with ( available from Amazon very low priced for a pack of 100 ). Then you can put the cap right back on & store the Tru-Oil bottle upside down for maximum lifespan. ... show more

  • Needed something different
As a casual, do it yourself person….I had bought a small piece of furniture and just need to spray brown expresso. It stained but more like water color….not a solid color. Maybe for something else it might work…but not for something like this.

  • Great stain
Used this on a norinco sks. Chemical stripped the old finish and lightly sanded the stock. Used an iron and a damp t-shirt to raise up any dents. Used 5 coats of this stain, sanded with progressively finer paper. Then used 15 coats of the birchwood casey tru oil, wet sanding every 3 or 4 coats with 600 grit paper. Finished off with birchwood casey stock wax. The thing is like glass and looks better than it ever did. ... show more

Good product, but way over priced. $5.99 on other sites.

  • Less is more
Excellent product!! Using it on a Yugo SKS. First off, beware this is concentrate. I didn't know this and bought 2. More stain than I'll use in a lifetime, but, it was only $14. 50/50, BC to water, on 1st 2 coats. Then, 3 to 1 on next 2 coats. Color I wanted was perfect.

  • Great stain for my black powder rifle
I bought this to stain my stock on a traditions black powder rifle kit. I was looking to get a dark rich color with a slight red tint. This product did not disappoint. After about three coats of stain and three coats of Birchwood Casey's Tru Oil, I got exactly what I was looking for. The end result was exactly what I was going for, and the final assembly looked great with the browned finish I used on the barrel. ... show more
