The media could not be loaded. I read all the reviews before I purchased this, and in spite of the complaints about random shadows ceasing the fountain activity, I bought it anyway. The reviews are true and correct, any slight interference with the sun (passing clouds, overcast skies, my own shadow, etc.) does cause the pump to halt immediately. This solar panel does not store the suns power - not even a smidge - so if that's what you need, this is not the product for you. However, for my purposes, this is perfect. My goal was to create a hummingbird fountain and provide a daily water source for my hummers and butterflies. I don't need the pump to run at night, that would just cause faster evaporation. Even when the pump is not running, there is still a water source for my friends, as I have it set up to keep a small bowl full. When the sun shines again, the pump resumes it's purpose of recycling the water and keeps it moving. I can't really speak to longevity yet because I've only had this for about a week now and so far it has not disappointed. If it does, I'll come back and update. The pump arrived on time and was neatly packaged. All the parts were there and in perfect condition. Comes with a little instruction manual too and was very easy to assemble. I included a measuring tape with my pictures to show the panel size, it is pretty small, but it does the job as intended. I do wish the cord was longer because I would love to have mounted the panel on my roof - once the sun sets past my awning my little fountain is done for the day. The clear hose has a curve to it from being in the package which resulted in the fountain not shooting straight up, it wants to maintain the curve resulting in a lop-sided spray. To resolve this, I found a small piece of red PVC laying around and ran the clear hose up through it to keep it pointed straight up - worked perfect. I saw a review or two that said the tips don't fit the hose but after a bit of persuasive wiggling the tip went on and worked as advertised. In fact the tips worked so well that they sprayed higher than I needed for this project so I did a bit of modifying to my hose and PVC contraption until I got the spray height I wanted. Again, keep in mind that the height of the spray is directly related to the strength of the sun. Strong sun = strong spray. And I can switch the tips whenever I want. Btw, there is no ON-OFF switch on this, but not to worry, once the water at the bottom of the planter (or pond or whatever you use) gets too low, the pump automatically shuts off so that it doesn't burn itself out. I like that a lot. So, I guess it's all about what you will be using it for. I am super happy with mine and plan to create another fountain for my rock garden. I will be buying again. ... show more

What I LOVE about this solar pump is that it has an auto shut-off if there is not enough water. Running low on water was always something I worried about because that would burn out a pump. So that's fabulous...& it works. If you have something bigger than a normal birdbath you will be limited with the attachments because the water sprays out of my birdbath. No problem though, I just want moving water. The cord is 10 ft or so long which is not long enough for me. I purchased the Lewisia Solar Extension Cable 10 Feet Extension Cords Waterproof IP65 22AWG One Pair Total 20 Feet for Solar Pump Solar Spotlights and the plug is the same. They come in a pack of 2 so that's convenient. (I did end up cutting one when I was deadheading...OY!) I'm being more careful now! I also purchased some pump filter bags but you can see how I am using it bc if I put the pump all the way in the bag I lose the suction ability. Again this is fine, I just want to keep as much dirt out as possible. They do need cleaning. So far (1 day) I'm very happy with this little unit. The pump isn't working bc the sun is down now. I set this up the day it arrived and so far am very happy with my purchase. Setup and directions were easy to follow. I found the fountain not only works on sunny days, but also operates on "slightly" overcast days. That surprised me because on a sunny day, if I stand in front of the solar panel and block the sun from reaching it, the fountain stops. I highly recommend this fountain. I loved this fountain kit. I worked great for a couple days. Not sure what happened to the pump. It just quit working. HOWEVER, I contacted the seller by email address that was on the product. They were VERY quick to respond. They had me to check a couple things on the product. However, the pump was in fact not working. The Seller was again VERY quick to respond to and got a replacement shipped immediately! Everyone knows every item you purchase cannot be perfect every time. Things happen. But when you get a seller to respond THAT QUICKLY and show they truly care about their customers and stand behind their products, that says a lot about a company! It's a great idea. But, unless u have a gigantic birdbath, the water will go everywhere and then shut off due to lack of water. I even tried to put the solar panel in partial sun, but if that changes a bit, and it usually does, you are back to little water.

The media could not be loaded. So…, most of the reviews for these types of products are bad. I decided to buy this one because of the price, and that it supposedly shuts off when the water level gets too low. Installation was super easy and as soon as I added water to the bath it started up. I didn’t use any of the sprinkler heads because I like the small fountain that is just strong enough to keep the water moving, without being too high to where water gets blown out of the bath. Honestly, I was impressed as soon as it started working. How long it will last is anyone’s guess at this point, but as long as it keeps the water moving when it is sunny, I will be happy. Keeping the filter clean will probably be a pain, but I think the manufacturer’s rec. for once a week is within my bandwidth. If it lasts the summer, I think I will be satisfied, and will be happy if it lasts the year. As far as recommending it, I think if you have enough sun, this little 2.5 watt panel and pump will keep water in a small bird bath going. If I were to buy again, I might have gone for a bigger panel, but am going to wait to see how this thing performs over time. Fingers crossed. ... show more
