  • Great bat house - just don't put it on the side of your house
Style: 2 Chamber Black (Up to 75 Bats)
This is a great bat box. I've had it on the side of my house for about 3 years now. It has about 30 bars in it during the summer and they apparently migrate to a warmer climate in late Fall. House is well constructedand has held up well. The temp range / color guide has been spot on for the bats' optimal comfort. My one recommendation is do not put this on the side of your house. I did and it was a big mistake. I would have thought the inch or so distance of the entrance to the back of the box would have made for a clean drop of bat waste onto the ground but it did not. Instead, it ran down the side of my house, peeling the paint and also caused some rot on the wood behind the bat house. I expected a pile on the ground, which I also got, but not this. It was also on the wall outside my bedroom and I was surprised that I could still hear them sratching around and squeaking when they were in the bat house. I have a log cabin so there were a few bats living in between the bat box and the wall of my house but that was not enough to account for the amount of mess on the wall. Your mileage may vary with different wall type or location on the house but, in my experience, mounting this on a pole out in the yard is going to be the best option. ... show more

  • Well Constructed Bat House That We Are Very Happy With
Style: 2 Chamber Black (Up to 75 Bats)
We often sit outside and see bats flying around at night. We decided that we wanted to purchase a bat house after seeing them in the trees on a nearby trail. We love that we can help the bats and we hope that the bats will eat lots of bugs and mosquitoes for us in return. The bat house is well constructed and other than needing to climb high up a tree (our preference), it was easy to hang. It has a sloped roof so the rain runs off of it. It's a good size and I can imagine quite a few bats will be able to cozy up together inside of it. The dark wood blends into the bark of the tree and is not an eyesore in any way. We've only had it up for a few weeks and haven't checked for bats yet but we are hopeful that some will be there soon if they aren't already! We are ver happy with this purchase and this seller! ... show more

  • Big, heavy. Hard to install on house by yourself.
Style: 3 Chamber Brown (Up to 200 Bats)
The bat box is bigger than I thought and quite heavy. I have attached it to my house. although it seems sturdy I have some concern that the provided hardware will hold it securely. It was not an easy task to install it some 15 feet up by myself. You really could use 2 sets of hands, one to hold it in position and one to drill and screw. ... show more

  • Good quality
Style: 3 Chamber black (Up to 200 Bats)
Easy to put together and put up. I bought as a part of a nrcs program and they approved the size. Good size to house plenty of bats. I’ve had it up for about 6 months and look like the day I put it up!

  • tiny screws strip out easily out of the cedar!
Style: 2 Chamber Cedar (75 Bats)
I just got this 2 days ago and hung it up yesterday morning on the side of the house that gets the most morning sun since everything I read online said that is the place to install it. With vynal siding, it's hard to screw to the house to make it lay flat. In trying to get the large screws tight to the house, it pulled out the tiny screws that go into the cedar sides. I had to leave several of the big screws going into the house sort of loose not to pull out the tiny screws into the sides of the cedar. They really should of made it so you can open it up and screw the back directly to the house and then close it up. This would also make it easier to clean out later on. I'm wondering how well this truly works because several of the sites online say that cedar is a horrible smell for bats and repells them. We'll just have to wait and see if bats really take to it being cedar and how long it lasts with the tiny screws that easily strip out of the cedar sides. I just might have to disassemble it and see if I can screw the back directly to the house and then re-assemble it once the back is attached to the house or rework it so I can do this. Nice little bat house but poorly design to install it to the house. ... show more
