  • Simple bike tent
Style: 2 Person
Took this tent bikepacking. Short sticks allowed to pack light. All mounted on Salsa anything cradle. The tent design with bike parking/storage was nice, giving peace of mind that my bike is safe overnight. Setting up the top was easy with color matched points. With a small chair I could eat breakfast next to my bike all within the tent. You could get a lighter tent setup without bike focused mounting solutions but do you really need ultra light gear? This setup is worth the money for solo or duo bike trips. Best part, it’s still a light tent you could use for hiking or glamping. ... show more

  • Don't leave much room for error
Style: 2 Person
The tent seems very capable to me. I'm not one to worry about weight, it's on the heavier side. But comfort trumps this in my opinion. My one concern is packing. There isn't much forgiveness in packing the tent in the sack it comes with. Forget about adding a footprint. It would be nice to have some extra room, so I'm not having to pack things so tight. While struggling to get the tent back in the sack rolled as tight as I can get it. Adding to the struggle (I'm sure) is if/when I will be in less than desirable weather conditions. Which I will most likely be in with this tent more often than not. Rain and dirt will most likely force me to purchase some other compression style sack or 50l dry bag to store the tent in. ... show more

  • Very Nice for Adventure Riding
Style: 2 Person
I bought the bike packing version of this tent to use on motorcycle adventure rides and multi-day dual sport rides. It has worked out great. When packed, it fits perfectly inside my mosko moto reckless 80 side bags. Its almost like it was designed to fit into them. Snug slip fit so that it doesn't move around inside the bag. The short poles of the bike packing version make the tent soooo much easier to pack. Well worth the coin. Set up is a little tricky the first few times, but once you have it figured out it can be put up in 10 minutes or so. Solo camping there is plenty of room inside to stretch out. The vestibule provides ample room to lay out great to dry out and keep it dry from the morning dew. With two people, the tent is still comfortable. Two 6ft tall men can easily sleep in this tent without constantly bumping into each other. The vestibule doesn't have enough room for two sets of gear, so we lay socks, undies, and boots under the vesti, and the rest on the bikes. Overall a good tent. Not sure about durability yet, have only used a few times. ... show more

  • Attention to detal
Style: 3 Person
This tent was easy to erect. Recommend getting the footprint that acts as a floor to the vestibule. We'll ventilated and being able enter via front or back of tent is really nice. Vestibule on both sides proved really handy. Perfect for motocamping.

  • Very spacious, will leak in rain
Style: 2 Person
I like this tent, the vestibule fits all 4 of my panniers, and my 70 liter trailer bag with enough space to put my camping chair in and still get in and out of the tent no problem. Inside I can have my camping table set up and it doesn't touch the tent walls, and there is still ALOT of space. It packs up smaller them my older marmot limelight 3p, and has ALOT more room when set up. I have the 3 person version of this tent. Cons are that it doesn't handle rain well. It will let water in thru the vents. So this is a great summer tent, but not a good tent when it starts to rain. Even with video proof BA will say their tent is water tight. When it is not. Plus the foot print for this is 80 bucks extra and it ripped on the first use. BA once again won't cover this. Definitely will not be buying any more BA products. ... show more

  • Nice tent with a couple of flaws.
Style: 2 Person
Disclaimer: I purchased this Big Agnes Blacktail Hotel Biking tent from REI, not through Amazon, due to quicker availability at the time. Interesting that a week later REI no longer has this tent listed on their website. I've owned a lot of backpacking and camping tents throughout the years from manufacturers such as Sierra Design, Mountain Hardware, Z-Packs, REI, and others. This Big Agnes is a well thought out tent and it's beauty is in the super large vestibule located at one of the two tent doors. The other door has a much smaller vestibule, good for small stuff. The enlarged vestibule does come at a weight cost however, so for a two person tent, just under seven pounds is a bit much. That being said my reason for its purchase besides the vestibule size was the compacted tent poles, enabling the tent and its poles to fit in a much smaller stuff sack. This enables the complete tent to better fit within a bike pannier. All of this I understood prior to my purchase. The big hit Miss Agnes was trying to motivate your tent and fly back into its stuff sack. This has been noted in other reviews. However, to roll the tent tight enough to fit within the sack has caused the plastic pole clips (attached to the sides of the tent) to pierce the thin body of the tent fabric. Even on its inaugural unfurling and test set up, putting the complete tent back in the bag has now caused the tent to no longer be waterproof on the floor fabric. First time for everything I guess, but what a crappy design right out of the gate. I expect continued use will only degrade the fabric more. Purpose of the tent is shelter from the elements...all ruined by a small plastic clip. If the stuff sack was only a little bit larger I feel this would not have happened. But it is a super tight fit so buyer beware. At this point I remain undecided whether I will return the tent or not. Everything else on the tent seems well thought out and proven but I fear the fabric will only tear worse in the future. ... show more
