  • good bass for a open-backed
You might like this one if you are below 40 and mostly listen to pop/rock/metal/rap and don't use dedicated dac&.

  • happy with purchase
I purchased these headphones after my positive experience with the dt1990 pro and amiron wireless copper headphones...i was on a 'buying spree' last year during the pandemic. I was a bit concerned after reading some (many) of the negative reviews comparing them to the previoius generations of these headphones with the exception of "audiophiliac youtube".... I'm not a 'bass' person so i was depending on the ability to return them buying through Amazon. They are more bass-y then my dt1990 pro's and about the same as the amiron wireless copper. I use them with a Fiio k9pro dac/amp. I'm on the Tidal three month trial and the MQA files play a bit on the bass-y side but not terribly so. Then I changed the earpads to the Dekoni Elite Fenestrated Sheepskin pads that i use with the dt1990 pro's. Amazing! The soundstage, already wide, is wider still and deeper; bass is moderated enough for me to enjoy; instrument placement is very clear and specific...it is like sitting in the 7th row, orchestra, center. I was surprised at how much earpads can affect the audio......Fortunately, I purchased the T1's before the price went up, too...now i have to decide if i want to try them with a balanced cable! UPDATE--MARCH 26, 2022-Just tried them with a balanced cable (www.audiophileninja.com). Amazing. Soundstage even wider, now also deeper, vocals brought forward and sound cleaner and volume added. Balanced cables do make a difference. Using with Fiio K9Pro (AKM version). ... show more

  • tested against sennheiser hd660
i tested these on a schiit valhalla2 against a set of sennheiser hd660 cans.... the bass would muddy up the rest of the audio... vocals distorted on heavy bass at higher volumes... i could play, for example, "this is america" by childish gambino and the bass would distort the vocals significantly..... the sennheiser hd660 do not have this problem.... whats up with that beyerdynamics? i thought the v3 t1's were supposed to be best in class? losing out to a set of 400 dollar headphones??? ... show more

  • Takes some time
For reference I enjoy a variety of different sound signitures, I have a pair of Hd800 that I enjoy on special occasions, but mostly I lean towards musicality. My favorites are my Hekv2, Amiron Home, Nighthawks. That is until I received the T1.3. I had never heard the previous version of the T1 so I didn't have one as a reference, and perhaps that is the difference for me opposed to some who feel Beyerdynamic went to far with the v3. It may only appeal to those who enjoy a darker sound sig but I also believe if you just like a musical headphone you'll grow over time to love it. It is a very resolving driver, while my Hekv2 may excell in textures and open soundstage, meaning it really breaks the sound scape into many different parts and amazes you with it's technicallities. The T1.3 has very nice technicalities ad well, but it isn't as impressive because it simply goes about presenting music in a different way than a Hek, it gives you the music as a whole, a nice wide stage allows each instrument its own space and really creates a nice sound. So much so I usually grab these over any of my other headphones. They grew on me the more I listened to them and now they are my favorites along with the Hek's. They are also very comfortable and I haven't found much they don't excell at music wise. The best compliment I can give them is they cause me to enjoy music id probably normally not like, they make everything enjoyable. While the Hek may impress alittle more on certain tracks, I always find myself skipping songs with them, not so with the T1.3. ... show more

  • Great set of headphones for immersive listening
Comfortable, well made, clear, high resolution soundstage. After working in sound engineering, I figured trusting my ears to be a good option over some online reviews. These aren’t flat response for monitoring, no. You’re buying comfort, easy listening and clarity. The sound space is clear and reflective in the build quality. Bass presence is there over the T2s yes, but not overwhelming nor distracting from any track. Accurate clarity is there with a great open soundscape. ... show more

  • More downgrade than upgrace
I've been a fan of the beyer sound for years. In fact I own almost a dozen beyer cans including the dt1990 pro and the t1 and t5 2nd gen which I've been enjoying for years and years. So, I had high expectations for this new "flagship" model they call themselves a "sonic masterpiece". Not even close. The sound is too boomy on most music genres, muddy bass, treble without any sparkle whatsoever and yes, it has some decent mids but nothing spectacular. Soundstage is almost the same of the 2nd gen, imaging is worst than in 2nd gen and the overall tuning makes them pretty boring. I know headphones need time to break in and I thought this one would be better after 150 hours or so... I'm over 300 hours and the sound still the same, and I've been using them with a wide array of head amps, including Rupert Neve RNHP, ifi Zen Can, Topping A90 and even their own Beyer A2. Sounds equally uninspiring on all of them. This attempt of making the sound of the Tygr 300 bigger and more defined should be in the mid-fi category, 300 or 400 dollars tops. Not even close to the 1000 it costs. I'm still thinking if I would keep it or not. For now I had to give it a rest because and return to the MUCH better sound of the T1 and T5p 2nd Generation. ... show more
