I've made the mistake of buying the inch thinking it would soften up my hard mattress. Well, made it too soft, like sink in the foam and have your back curved soft. If you have back problems don't go above 3". I had to throw this one out and I'm waiting for a 2" Also, my old topper was more dense and the foam does not behave like the regular memory foams that I remember.
