After trying a couple of dog beds, my 11 year old dog finally liked a bed well enough that she stopped chewing up the bed (like she did with previous beds). The current bed has a removable and washable cover but over time the foam wasn't as springy and it smelled funky. I thought about washing the foam but between the foam being bulky and not as springy, I looked into other options. Not wanting to replace the bed since it's finally one she likes, I looked into a couple of options that were too expensive. I found this foam and based on the measurements of the foam insert for the dog bed, I realized that I could get 4 replacement foam inserts from this one topper. I used a sharpie marker to draw that shape of the dog bed foam insert on the smooth side of the topper foam and used a serrated bread knife to cut the foam - it was fairly easy to do (way easier than using a pair of scissors and no power tools required) and now I have a lifetime supply of foam inserts for my dog's current bed or a new one with similar measurements if needed. ... show more

Topper is as described. Was easy to open up. I let air out for about 2 days, opened up nicely and u didn’t notice any odor. Husband complained about being hot first night it was on the bed but hadn’t since so I’d say it was caused by something else.

I like the comfort. It’s a bit heavy to maneuver but I managed. There’s a scent in this product that my dog went crazy about. She’s tore through the sheets and ate several spots out of this topper. Whatever it is she’s still after. I have laid several quilts underneath the sheets now, but she’s digging to get after that smell. I’ll continue to use this as it was pricey and I don’t want to just throw it out now that there’s 3 holes in it, literally missing the foam. ... show more
