This is a very lightwieght paddle, without the price to match. Value is its watchword. I have twice used this paddle to kayak down the Colorado, from Glen Canyon, through Horseshoe Bend, down to Lee's Ferry. The blade is nice and stiff and allows you to really dig into the water for power strokes, or just use it for a comfortable and efficient stroke down the river. I highly recommend. ... show more

I'm not the most experienced paddler however, I spent a fair amount of time researching and checking out paddles before I purchased one. I had looked at several highly rated aluminum and fiberglass paddles however, I kept being drawn to the carbon fiber paddles. Most Carbon Fiber paddles are at least $250 so, I decided to give the Best a try considering the cost and the other reviews. I'm quite happy with the weight of the paddle however, I can tell that the blades aren't as stiff as other paddles with a carbon fiber shaft. The fit between the 2 pieces is also very good, there is absolutely no wiggle which is something that really bothered me about aluminum paddles. The length (234 cm) seems perfect for me, I'm 5'10" and my boat is 28.5" wide so, I am generally right at either the top or low end of either the 230 or 240 cm paddles. The blade design and size also seems to be somewhere in the middle between a high angle and a low angle paddle but, certainly leaning more towards the low angle. Personally being new, I was no sure which way to go so, I appreciate the middle ground. My only complaint is that there is no grips on the paddle but, I've noticed that most carbon fiber paddles don't come with them so, I'm not too upset about it. A very nice bonus is that this paddle includes a nice long paddle leash. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and this paddle should be a really great entry level paddle for me! ... show more
