  • Excellent tool very well made Getcha one!
Color: Black Grivory - Drop-Point Blade Style: Plain Edge
I'll keep it simple; this knife was everything I expected it to be and then some! BTW I didn't say "SHORT". 😁 My old friend has one and I sharpened it for him now and then, and always threatened to keep it, in jest of course! This knife is a different model than his and I like this one even better than his! I don't need a big knife; a 3" blade is plenty for me, I'll use it mostly for opening boxes so, I expect it to remain sharp for a long time. It is razor sharp right out of the box! I discovered that I didn't even need to use the thumb stud to open it, all I need to do is hold it nearly horizontal, and pull back the blade lock and the blade will fall open and a flick of the wrist snaps it the rest of the way, then the same thing to close it, just hold it a little point up and release the lock again and it will often fall shut by itself, if not, a touch of the finger closes it the rest of the way. You may know I'm 83 and my hands don't work as well as they used too, so I'm thrilled to learn my knife is even easier to open and close than I expected! Yippee!!!!! 😁😁😁 I recommend Benchmade to anyone who wants a quality blade you won't be disappointed. I had to wait a long time to afford this present to ME! Needless to say, I love it, as much as I can love a THING! This is one of the few FIVE STAR ratings I give, that should tell you something 4 stars is my normal highest rating. Getcha one! • Benchmade perfection, but a little small for my taste.
Color: Black Grivory - Sheepsfoot Blade Style: Plain Edge
Excellent knife. I've had a few Benchmade and they always are fantastic. Very robust. Nice edge. I've never sharpened one myself, But you can get them sharpened by Benchmade by sending it back to them. They'll do it for your whole lifetime. The mini griptilian is a little smaller than I'd like. But that's exactly what it's supposed to do, It just didn't work for my size hands and my needs. It's probably at least 30% smaller than the full size griptilian. I ended up getting the sheep's foot this time. Variety is the spice of life but if you're looking for a do-all knife (If one of those points is that you want to be able to stab something or pierce something) The drop point is the better one to get. But if you want to not stab or pierce something the sheeps foot is the better one. Benchmade knives are expensive but they also I think are the best. they can easily be the last knife you ever buy but probably won't be because you will want more of them. These would make an excellent gift for any lover of fine tools and quality tools. ... show more

  • Can't beat it.
These are my go-to gifts for people I really like. I carried one like this for years, until it died from literally being ran over by a bus. Benchmade offered to replace it, but I declined since it was my fault it ended up on the road anyway. I gave these to my groomsmen at my wedding as part of their gifts. Overall, a great starter knife in the "pretty nice, not your ordinary knife" world...A great first knife that will get folks hooked on to carrying non-garbage knives daily. Great blade, great (not-cop-angering) blade size for Illinois, ergonomic handle, easy one-handed open/close, great pocket clip (set up for righties out of the box). I find the partially-serrated blade to be quite useful. This was my first partially-serrated blade...I was originally not sold on the idea of a serrated area, but after owning one I now prefer them. They work well for cordage and all sorts of other heavier-duty sawing that doesn't go easily with a straight blade. The AXIS lock is, IMHO, the best black lock on the market...Sturdy, yet extremely easy to operate one-handed with just a bit of practice. The only thing I can ding this knife for is the G10 scales...They don't stand up to being ran over by a bus! :) I'd still be using mine for EDC if it wasn't for its fateful meeting with a city bus. I've moved on to a Benchmade 707S, but the 556S is the way to go for a great, relatively inexpensive folding knife with a great lock. ... show more

  • Very nice EDC
Color: Black Grivory - Drop-Point Blade Style: Plain Edge
The Mini-Griptillian is a good EDC knife. It is not as big as the regular/large Griptillian, but that makes it less cumbersome when clipped onto the pant pocket. Sharp out of the box, easy to flick open and the lock mechanism is rock solid. Benchmade quality.

  • The Blade is SHARP!
This is a great little EDC. I originally ordered the regular sized Griptilian but after watching some reviewers on YouTube, I figured the mini would be better suited as an EDC, especially for someone with smaller hands. I'm glad I went with the smaller one. The mini Griptilian comes in at under 7 inches when fully extended and weighs about 2.5 oz. The handle is classified as, "Polymer" which is a fancy word for reconstructed plastic. I thought I would hate the handle's material, but I actually love it. Not only does it have no resemblance to plastic, but it is extremely grippy, fits perfectly in my hand and looks great. The blade is 154 CM steel. Don't know what that is? Its very good steel. It wont dull quickly. It will slice through anything and will maintain its shape. It's also easy to sharpen, making it a knife one can cary for years. To open the blade is the very best part. Its a drop point knife, which makes flicking it open via wrist or with your thumb super fun. Closing it by pinching the two locks on the handle makes the knife drop like butter. The clip is fine. It works and feels secure. I may switch to a deep pocket clip but for now, I am satisfied. This is my first, "premium" knife I've purchased, and I am happy with the steep price I paid for this knife. I would say that this knife is completely worth its price, but proceed at your own risk, as I hear once you buy your first benchmade, you can't stop buying more! ... show more
