This vise is well built. It's smaller than I was thinking, but it is my choice to throw this one onto my workbench whenever I need it since it's much lighter than my old vise.     • Most solid Vice in my garage
I have two other clamp down vises, and one bench top mounted vice, and out of the box this eclipses all three. First this thing is weighty, while still being portable. Unlike lighter (particularly clamp) vices this gives you both some added ability to torque and a very stable base against vibrations when doing things like sanding, or Dremel work. Second the versatility here is great. I can bench mount the Vice in one configuration and have a rock solid foundation to work, or I can turn it into a clamp Vice with the included parts and make it portable for working in the field. The lack of rubber on the clamp surfaces though is a mixed bag. For welding and other high-heat operations it’s great because it won’t melt if hit. However for delicate parts where you worry about the finish, the lack of rubber means being delicate with how hard you lock down. This is true of almost any Vice though, but something to consider if you’re trying for something specific. ... show more
