First the positives: my husband loves this belt. It is perfect for his golf outings and being reversible makes it even more appealing to him. He gets two belts for the price of one. It fits great and is very easy to adjust once it’s on. He found it really easy to release it to take it off with no problem. He really likes the feel of it and the colors are a really nice grey and black. He also said that it is very comfortable to wear and doesn’t make his waist hot or sweat when he’s out golfing. The not so great: The belt came with a tiny screwdriver and a tiny little cryptic card with writing so tiny we never could read it despite magnifying it and the pictures are so confusing I’m not sure what they were trying to explain. Absolutely no idea what the heck the screwdriver was for. I imagine for adjusting the buckle mechanism but we failed to locate anything that looked like a screw. The worst part was the length. At least six or so inches too long! It said 38 - 42” but boy did they get that wrong. Again, one of the tiny pictures showed trimming the belt to meet your desired length but there was still way more belt than necessary. It was relatively easy to cut with good scissors and the material is the type that you can heat with a lighter and it kind of melts so getting the end rounded and smooth wasn’t too hard but have a hard mat or surface to mold the hot material and not your finger. It would burn your fingers terribly because it’s melted plastic type of material.

This is an interesting, and good looking belt. Designed to be infinitely adjustable thanks to the buckle mechanism that grips the contours of the webbing of the belt - you simply feed the webbing through the buckle and the grip bar holds the buckle in place. This buckle is designed so that it looks like a 'normal buckle' but there is a small lever that releaseses the grip bar to remove or loosen the belt. (see photos) The belt is reversible by spinning the buckle mechanism OR by removing the webbing from the buckle and turning it over. There are no specific instructions for adjusting the length of the belt other than a caution not to cut the belt too short. The belt arrives with a small blade screwdriver in the box. I spent a couple minutes looking for a way to unscrew something on the buckle in order to remove the webbing so that I could cut it shorter. I beleive the screwdriver is provided so that you can pry up the flange on the base of the buckle (see photos Once you lift the flange and open it completely, the webbing releases from the buckle. You can then cut this end, seal the nylon with a match or lighter, then reinsert and close the flange to lock in the webbing. Regarding the 'look' of the belt: this is a web belt so you can only dress it up so much, however, becasuse of the look of the buckle and the finish of the webbing, I do feel that this belt can be used with chinos or other slacks worn in a busniness casual fashion. This does NOT look like a work belt, but of course could be used as such if you desired. The concept of the 'racheting belt' seems to be very popular now. I admit that I like the ability to adjust the fit of the belt to whatever tension I want, rather than using pre-set holes that may or may not provide a comfortable fit. Of course, for some events/outfits, a sharp looking leather belt is still a 'go to'.

The belt itself is a stiff, somewhat plasticy, woven strap material. I've had other strap type belts where the material is rather limp, and folds - not this belt. The material is quite stiff. The edges are burnished, and it slides easily through belt loops. Don't worry if the belt is too big. You can very easily remove the buckle (small lever) and trim the buckle-end with a kitchen scissors. (Don't trim the finished end!) This is the first ratchet buckle I've had. It works great, never slips. It's easily, and infinitely, adjustable. The buckle has a pull/twist mechanism which allows the belt to be flipped to the other color. Be aware of: * The leading edge of the buckle is thicker than most as it contains the ratchet mechanism. I hang my belts from a set of small hooks, and this buckle doesn't hang securely because of the wide end. * The ratchet mechanism isn't silent. When refastening in the men's room, there is a noticeable set of clicks as you pull-tighten the belt. * The keeper (loop of material that holds the end of the belt) isn't secured. It can easily get caught on your belt loop and slide off. Easy to lose if you're not careful. Overall, I like it. I've been wearing it for a couple of weeks and would recommend.
