I drive my wife crazy with my alarm, constantly hitting snooze etc. I am a heavy sleeper. I was in search of a new type of alarm and found several of these "bed shaker" type devices. Every single product I read about, the purchaser complained either about how the shaker did not wake them and/or that it was poorly designed and manufactured and broke over a short period of time. You will also see many complain about the others not keeping good time and drifting the first day or two. This one has kept perfect time so far over two weeks. I searched the internet and found this product designed for the hearing impaired. I looked on Amazon to see if they had it and they did. I was also surprised it had not been reviewed. Maybe because of the price. I found some other places on-line that had positive feedback on the device so I went ahead and ordered it here. I received it a week ago and upon opening the device was extremely pleased at the superb quality and design of this alarm clock. It is like the difference between a top-of-the-line European car compared to and old low-budget clunker. The materials are very heavy duty while the design concept and craftsmanship are top notch. Is is heads and shoulders above any alarm I have ever owned over decades of buying them off the shelf. The alarm can be configured in any combination of loud audible alarm, flashing light and the very effective bed shaker. I have mine set to just use the flashing light and bed shaker with no auditory signal. Does it wake me up? No doubt about it. There is no escaping this vibrating puck under the pillow. It does not shock me into having heart palpitations but just wakes my up. The snooze feature is also designed so that I can not cheat by pressing it several times delaying the next alarm period. It gives you nine minutes the first snooze then decreases by two minutes there after until it reaches two minutes between alarming and then will be two minute intervals from there on until you turn it off. I know I haven't had it long enough to comment on the durability over time but I am extremely hopeful due to the impressive quality of this clock and the fact it is designed for the hearing impaired. This is a very good sign from this company being that there is another model above this that integrates smoke alarms, doorbells and baby monitors into this alarm so they are manufacturing a device that could be the difference between life or death. This is the 'Pro' model of this clock. I will come back to this review in six months to comment on how well it held up. Device arrived a little earlier than scheduled ship date. P.S.     • A well-made alarm clock with some fatal flaws...
This is a very well-made alarm clock. Setting the time and alarm on this clock couldn't be any easier. The decreasing snooze time interval from 9 to 2 minutes is a nice feature for someone like me who is prone to frequently hitting the snooze button. Note that in the instructions, it is said to have a 20 minute snooze timeout, which I interpret to mean that the snooze will stop and, thus, the alarm will no longer sound after 20 minutes. However, I tested that assumption over the weekend and found that I was able to hit the snooze button for at least an hour without it timing out (it probably would have continued to sound had I given it even more time). I also like that it has a small footprint. That said, it could definitely stand to be improved, especially given that it is marketed towards people with hearing loss. As a point of reference, I am deaf in one ear and have a mild (low frequencies) to profound (high frequencies) hearing loss in the other. The bed shaker is enough to rouse me from sleep, but I would prefer it to be stronger (just short of being catapulted out of bed!). The main issue is that the alarm is barely audible (for me at least) and the light is very weak. Note that I also have a Sonic Alert Sonic Boom alarm clock in the room, as I need two alarm clocks to get me out of bed in the morning. I have no problem hearing this alarm clock, even though I placed it away from the bed so that I have to physically get up to turn it off. The B & S Alarm Clock Pro, on the other hand, is on a nightstand right next to my bed and I can still barely hear it. As for the light, I don't see how it could possibly wake anyone up, unless it happens to be directly facing them (and even then, I have doubts as to whether it would be enough to wake someone up; it definitely wouldn't wake me up). It is important to note that you cannot adjust the alarm volume or light intensity (note that you can adjust the intensity of the back light, just not the flashing lights that serve as the visual alarm). If this was a possibility, then some of the weaknesses I mentioned above might be mitigated--unless, of course, they made the current volume and light intensity the highest level. In sum, this is a nice alarm clock with a lot of potential. As it currently stands, however, the bed shaker does the job (just barely), but the alarm and light are relatively ineffectual--at least for someone with hearing loss. ... show more

    • Love it but...
So I bought the bedshaker and right when I got it I plugged it in to test it. Well I found out that the bed shaker itself has a alarm you cannot turn off built into it, which defeated the purpose, I didn't want to wake my wife. The sound was annoying enough she said that she wanted me to get rid of the vibrating alarm. So I thought I would take it apart and see what I can find. So if you take the vibrating puck, and flip it over you will find two screws. Unscrew them and pull open the puck. There is a board with ample amounts of glue on it. The black circle is the little speaker, if you put a utility knife under it and work the knife around and pull up the entire speaker will pop right off. Now my puck will just vibrate instead of mandatory vibrating / alarm. I saw they apparently sell the puck without the alarm sound, however I couldn't find it being sold anywhere and this solution just seemed easier :D ... show more
