  • Good Performing Blade, Fits Toro As Advertised
I'm writing this review because I've previously searched a long time on the internet trying to find a set of toothed mulching blades for my 2023 Toro 42" Timecutter (Part #: 75748), and not even Toro's website would identify a toothed mulching blade that fit my mower. I found many sites that specifically mentioned their blades fitting 2017 and older models, but none that mentioned fitting 2018 and newer models. This product listing listed the model number of my Toro mower, so I thought I'd give them a try. A month or so after purchasing my Toro 42" Timecutter, I installed the Recycler kit, which consisted of a metal insert installed under the deck, and (2) Toro mulching blades. I enjoyed the simplicity of mulching vs. bagging, and operated those Toro blades for about 9 months (cutting approximately 1 acre every other week). Even with the Toro blades brand new, I noticed that in some thick patches of leaves, I would have to run over the same area twice to get the leaves properly obliterated. I saw the toothed style of mulching blades and was curious if they would out-perform the non-toothed blades from Toro, so I tried a different brand of toothed mulching blades (Oregon brand) last year. These Belleone brand blades are shaped exactly like the toothed blades I've used in the past, and are priced a little cheaper than that brand. After using the Oregon toothed blades for about 9 months, I hit a hard metal object and ruined those blades and had to replace a spindle on the deck, and at this time I put back on a fresh set of OEM non-toothed mulching blades. Well, just today I replaced my worn non-toothed mulching blades to again try toothed blades (in an effort to do a better job mulching the live oak leaves in my yard). The package came with the blades only (and did not include any bolts or fender washers). Out of the box it may seem as if the blades are not sharpened but in reality, the blades are sharpened then coated with black oxide. After the first use, the black oxide gets worn off exposing the cutting edge. Unless you intend to sharpen your blades between every use, there really is no reason to bother, as the sharp edge gets worn off quickly whichever brand of blade you purchase. As for the performance of these mulching blades, I have now had TWO different alternating experiences with toothed vs. non-toothed mulching blades, and below are my comparisons and comments. - The first thing I noticed before/during install (and this is visible in my pictures), is that these blades are constructed with an offset down from the spindle bolt, which means that these blades end up being positioned vertically lower in the deck than the non-toothed blades (it appears like they sit about 1/4" lower). - When operating these blades, they appear to provide more lift than the stock non-toothed mulching blades. It seemed to pick up leaves embedded in the grass a little bit better than the non-toothed blades. - During situations where the lawn I'm mowing is too tall to mulch effectively, I have removed the mulch cover on the deck and let the deck discharge cut material. When I do this with the toothed blades, the ejected pieces are more finely chopped so I don't get a pile of hay coming out the deck. So in summary, these blades do fit my newer Toro 42" mower. I feel like these blades do mulch better than the non-toothed blades, but it's not a dramatic improvement, only marginal. ... show more

  • Not the right size for advertised mower 42”
Blades are good looking quality, but they market it for a 42” mower yet the blades are 21.5”. That’s 43” of blade.

  • Works as intended
These fit perfectly and cut well. Just be aware that these are blade only and not the plug or the full mulching kit. Seem to be well made.

  • Heavy duty and fits perfectly
Sturdy, balanced, great cutting edge, and unusually good painted finish
