  • Incredibly powerful for a great price
This is a no brainer. Great price with tons of functionality. The preamps are good. The iPad interface works well. Less options with an android. All the bells and whistles with a laptop. Set profiles, Easily set up gate, compression and EQ. Bluetooth work great. Highly portable and well built. Eliminates need for a snake. WE use it in our church and everyone loves it and has stood up to the use and abuse. ... show more

  • Knowing the name of the Xair wifi.
Once you get past the learning curve its real good. When setting it up have your phone's wifi search it out so you know the actual wifi name of your unit. Then use the tablet to match that name when searching. It may require a bit of editing of the last 3 numbers. The tablet to unit controls are very responsive and its fun to check out the effects on instruments and voices. We use it with two Bose compacts but if you have a separate PA amplifier for monitors and big speakers on tripods it will work fine. Download the Xair pro app for best results. If you don't get a connection right away turn off the app then reinitiate and search again it will connect again no problem. I've found if I disconnect the app it still retains the last settings given so it doesn't seem to interfere with the show so like any other PA it's set and forget once you have all of your settings. There are two outputs for left and right speakers and 4 outputs for monitors as well as a headphone output. ... show more

  • Soooooo close to perfect! No multitrack record, but AMAZING audio!
The size and form factor of this unit is awesome, and the sound quality is phenomenal. The ability to wirelessly control is super handy and works well, but also the app is solid and the exact same as the desktop app, which is nice. That kind of consistency is very appreciated. The unit works great, the app is lovely, I iust wish there was a way to multitrack record with this unit. It only allows you to record Main L or R or individual tracks/buses. I purchased this unit figuring this was an included feature, as it's a digital mixer that advertises 16-inputs... yet the unit won't let you track those all separately, just a mix down. The only cases where I see this as helpful is when mixing live, which severely limits the usefulness of this unit. I really wish I had gotten the XR18 just for that feature. Otherwise, this unit really is fantastic, it just has that one glaring drawback. ... show more

  • Best sound our group has ever had. Credit:this magic box.
I bought this based on price-- this was a far less expensive option than a traditional mixer with snake to get a Front Of House mix. But it delivered far, far more than a 'low cost mixer.' This product is outstanding, and nothing about it needs to be qualified with "for the money." We had so many people after the last event tell us this was the best our group ever sounded. A big part of this is that we could get compression, noise gating, and parametric EQ on all six vocal channels. That is unheard of in a low-end mixer. It would cost you far more than the cost of the mixer just to replicate the effects. These effects meant we could get a more even vocal mix, better tailored to the vocalists, and with much less bleed-through of the drums. The other thing was the speed of setup compared to a traditional setup. Set the mixer in a centralized location, permitting short cords throughout. None of the wiring to the board and back. We were in sound check in 45 minutes-- an hour sooner than before. If you are thinking about this but a little nervous that the app approach is not what you are used to, don't be. Sure, set aside some time to learn it. It's intuitive, but make no mistake you are controlling a complex bit of equipment with tremendous capabilities, and you will need to find your way around it. But it is so worth it to be able to have the app tell you the vocalist's name, rather than the usual bit of masking tape on the board! ... show more

  • I can sit in the crowd like a spectator and adjust the levels and EQ with ...
Behringer is killing the game with these X-series digital mixers. I currently own the x32 compact (love it), the X Air 16(love it) and the X Air 18(love it). These mixers are flexable enough to mix multiple shows from the console (X32), from a laptop or desktop and from my phone. I run the xAir in the production suite for Alcorn State University football at Jack Spinks stadium and can send separate mixes to the Scoreboard, Suite TVs and the webcast. I can sit in the crowd like a spectator and adjust the levels and EQ with my phone so I know exactly with they hear. When I need help, other operators can pull out the app and run various functions of the unit while I concentrate on the main mix. You just can't do that with too many units on the market. I use the XR16 at a church. I can sit on a pew with my family and ride the faders as needed during worship to accommodate for the one soloist that hasn't figured out how to pull back the mic. Sure beats sitting in an audio room alone. The support is great and the price is right. ... show more
