I tried the other type of couplers that look more like a spring on the Z axis lead screws on my Ender 5 Plus but they stretched out and messed everything up. Got rid of those and replaced them with these. These work great and support the weight of the bed with ease. They are not really flexible so these will not solve any Z banding issues but they do stay together and don’t expand like the other type did. They don’t get 5 stars from me because of lack of flexibility but they are decent enough to get 4 stars. ... show more

    • Difficult to lock to motor shaft

Unlike most couplers there is no set screw for locking this into place on the notched portion of the motor shaft. I've found it very difficult to get a good firm lock to the motor shaft with these. I've tightened them to the point where I feel like anymore risks stripping the threads.

Factory coupler that came with the 3d printer striped right out of the box. Ridiculous I had to order parts the day I bought it. Luckily this piece fits to spec. And I have a second one just in case.

I can see where they have utility and where some people probably love them for certain applications, but I absolutely couldn't stand them at all. I bought a pair to use for an Ender 3 V2 printer when I was doing a dual-Z axis upgrade and just the littlest bit of pressure sent these couplers flying apart. For example, if you had even the slightest collision with your print bed, you were going to have to go in there and re-seat at least one coupler. And this is where I say I can see where they have utility for some people. I can see where that would seem like a perk to immediately limit the collision by disengaging from the drive train so you didn't smash your print head down into the print bed. But I found these would also separate during normal course of use causing inconsistent z-height adjustments on prints and horrible print quality. I went back to use the flexible aluminum couplers which are still fully connected but spiral cut in the center to allow for some margin of error in a collision, and flexibility for misaligned screw rods, but still fully connected with spring-back to ensure more consistent operation for long periods of time. ... show more

Will separate when pulled. Doesn't help screw wobble, to stiff of nylon insert. Screws strip easily, won't grip shafts without a lot of torque.

They seem to work. Hard to test it. You have to take the Z rods out all the way to get it to go in. But that's a good time to clean them. The fitting is very loose at first and the screws are very hard to turn. I thought I was going to strip it. Then finally it turned and tightened. For some reason the flexible couplers milled from a single piece of aluminum tend to shear on my DIY CNC machine on both the X and Y axis. I've tried different brands and suppliers, including the one in the photo, with the very same results. Within 6 hours of run time it breaks on the simplest of carves, ruining my workpiece. As you can see in the photo and the pictured break, one has to question the mill stock used vs. who mills these from that stock. However, since changing to this 3 piece design, I've been running fine without any issues or mid-carve failures!!! Thanks! ... show more
