Despite having tint and window screens, the AZ sun beats down into our living room on the west side of the house. We decided to give these curtains a try. My sister installed them & said it was relatively easy. They 100% cut out the sunlight! The only issue we have had since putting them up is that on two windows, about half a dozen of the adhesive strips have fallen off. Now, those windows happen to be the second and third windows she installed them on, so it is possible the metal frame became too hot for a solid adhesion, or perhaps she did not clean off the frames as well as she did the first one (it was a hundred-plus degree day!). Only time will tell 1) how well the adhesion works as we consistently reach 100+ degree days for the next few months, and 2) if it affects our a/c system and/or keeps our inside temp lower than before we installed them. ... show more

My husband works the night shift, so we needed to make our bedroom as dark as possible to help him sleep better during the day. We worked together and knocked the project out quickly. I read other reviews and saw pics of the product installed, so I opted to iron (low heat setting!) the material before cutting and installing. The creases came out easily. We cut the adhesive strips that were included to put the pieces in more places around the window's edge. There were a couple places where the strips came off the window. This probably had more to do with user error rather than bad adhesive. We cleaned the window before, but maybe not good enough in those spots. As far as the product goes, it 100% keeps light out wherever it's installed. And the material is thin, so it's easy to cut and work with. We have a TON left over, so we could put this on several more windows if we wanted. You get a lot for the price. We are very pleased. Our learnings from this project and using the blackout material would be that having adhesive around the entire edge of the material would ensure no light comes through. In some places where we don't have an adhesive strip, the material lifts up just a tiny bit, but it allows light to come through. Also, having silver on the back side makes it look a little funny. My husband says it looks like we have foil in our windows.... But, we installed these on the back of the house, so it's not affecting the look of our house from the street. My daughter's room is in the front of our house where we get the most sun, I had other blackout curtains in there and her room would get so hot. These have cooled down her room!! I did not even try the velcro that came with the set so I can't comment on that. I bought skinny velcro that would fit the windowsill and it worked wonderfully! They solved my problem - too much glare coming into my room where I have an artist studio and computer monitors, and cannot see artwork. I am so happy that I bought this! I had moved and our blackout curtains weren’t working well enough with a bigger window. I had looked into ordering custom shades but the price was outrageous for the size of our window. I came across this and decided to give it a try. It was very easy to put up with two people and has blocked all light from coming through. Living in AZ, where Daylight Savings Time is not observed, it gets light VERY early (think 5:00) in the morning. Being retired, I do not want to get up at that time!!! So I ordered this fabric for the sliders in my bedroom. The fabric was too short for the sliders--I knew that when I ordered--but I was able to piece large panels together with my sewing machine in a matter of minutes. Super-easy to install!
