Finally have some relief!

I finally sat down to use this set to relieve the pain of an ingrown toe nail (I bought it months ago). I was first blown away by the quality of this set for the price and I loved that it came with instructions! I followed the step by step instructions and I haven't felt this good about this toe in a long time (no more pain). There are separate instructions on how to cut the toe nail & how to use the nail lift tool. Follow those! The cutting instructions tell you not to pull while cutting. Use me as an example of what happens when you don't follow instructions because I pulled and it hurt! I had to take a break and remind myself of the importance of following instructions! Lol For the nail lift tool I had to have my husband help me because I was having a hard time latching onto my toe nail while twisting. So I latched, then he held the middle part, while I turned to lift the nail. The piece that goes on your toe is magnetic and tends to fall off so it's good to have another person help until you get the hang of using it. I'm going to use this set more often and be more mindful of the socks and shoes I wear in hopes of stopping the ingrown toe nail altogether. ... show more

Helpful for curved toenails

I have frequent problems with the nails on my big toes. They always curve downward at the edges and hurt the fleshy part of the toe. I've done things like shove gauze or cotton under the offending edge, but those get pulled out and I find bits of used cotton on the floor (if my cats don't find them first). And I'm never sure how long to leave cotton in, whether to change it after showering or take it out before, etc. I'd been looking for a better solution for a while and opted to get this kit, since it included all the standard pedicure stuff along with that funky little toenail straightener vise/clamp/whatever. The instructions are easy to follow, and I am pleased with my results. The tools are all easy to use, and the process was relatively painless. After the soaking, trimming, etc., I kept the vise in place until it dried, which was about 20 minutes or so. While that one was drying I kept my other foot soaking and then repeated the process on that foot. The instructions had me put gauze under the toenail edges to help maintain the new shape, and I repeated the process again the next day. My toenails have given me far less pain since then, and I have used the nippers and file from the kit a number of times as well. The metal file would be too harsh for my fingernails, but it works just fine on my toenails. Overall I'm happy with the kit and am glad to have a new, effective tool in my anti-ingrown arsenal. The kit came in a little black cardboard box, with all the pieces packed neatly in foam inside it. I got rid of the foam, as it makes it difficult to remove the tools. They are all currently loose in the box, which isn't ideal. I think acase of some sort with elastic to hold the tools in place would be handy, but it's definitely usable as it is. ... show more

Saved myself $400, skipped the podiatrist - just use these tools!

Okay, first of all, please don't be dumb. If your ingrown toenail is oozing, veiny, gnarled and black-crusty, etc. etc., don't go prodding around with this stuff -- go see a doctor. It's not worth an infection. But in my case, I had an ingrown toenail for over a month, soaked it every day, but it was still red and puffy and hurt to walk, warm to the touch too so I figured an infection was brewing. Without insurance, I was facing a $400 podiatrist appointment + possibly antibiotics so figured I might as well spend $12 to try and save myself the trip. HOW are these tools only $12? I swear these are professional podiatrist's clippers - they're heavy, easy to use, and it comes with like 6 other tools. They're all well-made, clean, and useful. I didn't quite figure out the little medieval toenail lifter device, but after using Dr. Scholl's ingrown toenail softener thing ($9) and then going in with this tool kit, I saved myself the doctor's visit. Toe looks and feels normal at this point! Even the BOX it comes in is handy and sleek-looking. This is seriously a fantastic product. It really validates using Amazon as a doctor (wisely and sparingly!) to take care of minor issues sometimes. Even if you end up going to the doctor, I would STILL advocate buying this kit just for general toenail care. ... show more

The perfect tool for every type of nail

This set comes with everything needed to fix your toe nail without a costly visit to a podiatrist. Of course for some things you'll obviously need to use discrepancy when it comes to anything serious but really, there's even a tool that helps raise the corners of the nail out so you can use the included scissor type clippers to cut the overgrowth away.
