  • Looking for the perfect gift for a Batman fan? Get this!
Before you buy this for a Batman fan, please make sure they already own it :) This collection is amazing, and it's perfect for a Batman fan that may appreciate a nice high-quality graphic novel featuring their favorite hero. This story features some of the best storylines in the history of Batman, and personally, I LOVE the art style. This is the PERFECT starter book for a fan of the Batman movies, shows, and games. Many fans who don't collect or read comics feel that way because following the single issue releases of ongoing comic series can be difficult and confusing. This collection includes several complete stories that serve as an amazing starting point for any comic or Batman fan. ... show more

  • Turned me into a forever Batman fan
I never thought I’d read an entire omnibus, especially one of this size, in one day. Well it happened. I started reading in the morning and I look up after finishing Dark Victory to find it night time. I went into this book following Frank Miller’s Year One and Brubaker’s The Man Who Laughs. Although both of which were good stories, I didn’t think they were good enough to get me into the long convoluted Batman timeline. After reading this, I see why Batman is the most popular hero of all time. I now have ordered several more Batman graphic novels because I can’t get over how perfect this trilogy is. This has become my most essential Omnibus in my collection, one that I will never part ways with. I recommend these stories to anyone regardless of the format that you find them in. Edit: RIP Tim Sale. You had possibly the most unique artistic vision in all of mainstream comics. I hold this collection of stories in such high regard because of your re-imagination of these characters. ... show more

  • An instant favorite
I read this book right before I purchased my own copy and I loved it. This copy came in pristine condition. This is a great addition for any Batman collector. It follows Batman as he tries to unravel the mystery of “holiday” and solve murders along with the stories of two face and the mafia. The only part of the book I didn’t really care for but still enjoyed was cat woman in Rome. Either way this is a great read and 10 times better than the movie which completely differed from the source material. ... show more

  • Just Can't Get Into The Art Style
The stories in this collection are pretty solid but nothing spectacular in my opinion. I see all the inspiration and DNA that Nolan and Goyer used to write Batman Begins and The Dark Knight and it's worth a read just for that alone, but I think the movies did everything better. My main issue with this is definitely Tim Sale's art. It's way too cartoony and for lack of a nicer word, "ugly." Everyone has really distorted looking faces and snout-like mouths and don't even get me started on the Joker. I can't even begin to describe how much I hate his depiction. Even Catwoman, who certainly has nice body proportions, just looks weird in the face. Both as Selina or in costume but her costume is by far the worse look of the two. Not a fan of the tail and whiskers. It looks like a cheap cosplay version, and the mask just isn't a very flattering look. All in all, pretty decent stories but nothing worth keeping on the shelf. I'm selling my copy to someone who may appreciate it more than I did. If you want to read the pinnacle of Jeph Loeb, check out Hush. Hush has the benefit of Jim Lee, Scott Williams, and Alex Sinclair on art work, and I would have to say the Absolute Hush is one of the most beautiful graphic novels I've ever seen and one of the most prized books in my collection. ... show more

  • Great stories and great art
The art is wonderful and the stories are quite good with Long Halloween being be the best out of the others. Long Halloween so great I really enjoy the crime family stuff, very godfather like. Harvey Dent is so great in this story. Dark Victory blends into Long Halloween flawlessly. The Haunted Night trilogy is fun, the first two stories are in my opinion the best out of the three. There fun short stories. Catwoman When in Rome is fun and interesting. Takes place during Dark Victory and explains where she went and why. The omnibus itself is good, average for the current DC omnibus quality. Binding is good not Marvel good but decent. Has a nice eye or tube. Nothing to worry about if you get one now (2021) with the newer printings. I highly recommend this to any batman fan and crime fan. ... show more
