  • May have to change the battery
My son loves this, but he did have to find a video on you tube of how to change the battery. Once we changed it, it's perfect!

  • Sound thing was broken
The box is cute, the books are heavy duty but the sound thing was broken. I read reviews before buying and saw other people had this but I was willing to take the chance. When you open the box the sound goes off for a second and repeats that little bit over and over to where you get aggroed haha. Gave me anxiety every time I tried to grab a book. But never fear, all you must do is take the batteries out, put them in and mess with the top right battery till it makes the whole noise through. It will then be fixed, I hope this helps 🫡 ... show more

  • Great
All of it was lovely. The only negative thing was the sound for when it opens didn't work. But every else was beautiful.

  • Perfectly surprised
My brother and I are huge Zelda fans, and I wanted to get him something really special for Christmas. I’ve had my eye on this product for a while but had heard a lot of bad reviews. Being that it was such a good looking set, I thought I would take a chance and just give it a purchase. I figured at the worst I could just return it if it wasn’t up to par. I have seen a lot of videos where the sound didn’t work or where the box was damaged etc., but still I took a chance. Let me tell you I was thrilled! Everything was perfect! My brother loved it and I loved watching him open it today. So glad this worked out the way that it did. The sound worked perfectly and was loud enough to hear in a medium sized crowded living room. Product was nicely packaged and looks protected during shipping. There are books for most of the Zelda games, but I do remember reading somewhere that this is not a complete set. I would love to know which books are missing so I could complete his set so I’ll have to do some research. This is a great gift for a collector! ... show more

  • No sound in box, but books are great! [How to fix]
Unlike the previous reviews, my box set is not light activated. There was a tiny slip of paper inside that I mistook for a pull tab--yours may have come partially ripped as well. After replacing the batteries, I realized the mechanism was tension-activated. I was able to use a rubber band to fix the sound issue--I hooked one end of the band around a small indent on the metal pressure tab and stretched the other end of the rubberband to the left and downward, into the box. By testing different tensions, I was able to decide precisely how far the lid could open before sound would play. This isn't a perfect fix, since there's no great way to fully secure the rubberband to the metal tab (if it's taped or glued it may wreck the activation link). One just has to be careful when opening the lid, and if the rubberband ever comes off it can always be hooked back on. AS FOR THE MANGA BOOKS! I bought this set for the hardcovers. The first few pages of every book are in color, and yes you will need to read from right to left. The stories are pretty good. Ocarina of Time especially had some extra plot devices to give some more character development to Link and the Kokiri, and Majora's Mask bounces off this slightly. Oracle of Seasons/Ages was a bit lackluster compared to OoT and MM--despite the book being about the same size, the stories felt shorter and more empty; like a cliff notes of the games. I have yet to read Minish Cap/Phantom Hourglass, but I noticed that Four Swords has its own dedicated book like OoT does, so I'm hopeful that story is a good read. ... show more

  • Ocarina of Time Book is Missing a Lot of Pages.
Now I'm not going to rant about the book being binded backwards (Like the parents who can't read the warning on the front of the books literally giving you directions on how to read it and explaining why this is.) Nor will I complain about the music player not working because I didn't much care for that feature either way. No, my issue is that the Ocarina of Time Legendary Edition is missing a chunk of the story. Let me preface this by saying that I did not buy this used. I bought it new. The chest came wrapped up in plastic and the music player still had the pull tap stuck inside (Didn't work). I looked at the spine, and the missing pages aren't ripped out. I've added a picture to show. It's not like this is a few pages that would go unnoticed either, I'm talking 40 whole pieces of paper are missing from the binding. That's 80 pages (Counting front and back of the pages) missing. Starting after page 314, ending before 347. In total, this book doesn't have the last bit of chapter 8, it's missing all of chapter 9 (the entire ending), the two bonus stories "Skull Kid and the Mask" part 1 & 2, and cuts into the other bonus story "Rouru of the Watarara" about two pages in. None of the other books are missing content, I've gone in and inspected them carefully, so those are fine. Rather, they have a lot of extra content in the back of those books for people who are interested in the authors, Akira Himekawa, and their process of making these mangas (Very nice.) These books are also in great quality compared to the originals. The pages are bigger than the old ones and there's a few colors pages at the front of each book. I also like that the "Minish Cap" is the one they chose to color at the front, rather than it's paired story "Phantom Hourglass". I'm sure a lot of long time fans of the series would agree that Minish is better in comparison, but that's just a silly opinion. In the pictures above I've also included what the next page is supposed to look like, (I have the older version from when I was a kid.) I'm not entirely sure if this is a common thing that all of the boxes have since nobody else seems to have left a review on it. It is a tricky thing to miss if you haven't read the series before or just wanted the books for the decor. I implore other buyers of the books to check on this. Again, cuts after page 314, resumes before page 347 (Though the next numbered page reads 352, just count backwards). If I had to hypothesize why this is, (If anything, why the music box isn't working, but if my missing page problem is common then--) It'd have to be that the prototype of this set had all of the bindings of each book the same size to fit into the box (though there is plenty of room left over for them to include the whole story). And VIZMedia rushed this box set for Christmas. It's listed as being out from October 20, 2020. Right on time for the early holiday shoppers to put it on their wishlist. Other than that, it's a pretty neat thing. I'm not overly picky, and if you catch this set on sale it's a really great deal. The poster is drawn by the artists of the manga and looks cool. I'm looking into getting in contact with VIZMedia and seeing about what they can do to help me get another version of the book with the whole story. It's a great collection and I'd rather not return it because of one little thing going wrong. Hope this helps! ... show more

  • Not backwards, just Japanese binding
I keep seeing reviews stating these are "printed backwards." This set is in its original Japanese binding. It's beautifully done. I love it!

  • Sound doesn't work
First one I received all it did was make a clicking sound. I requested a replacement item and this one came with no sound at all. At this point not sure I'm going to try a 3rd time, return it, or keep it knowing it just doesn't work. I'd recommend getting the one without the box it's just card kard. Nothing special without the sound effect ... show more
