This stuff works really well. We used it in our rental to cover an old blue 80s bathtub, instead of replacing it. It took 4 kits to cover it because it was a full enclosure with even a ceiling. But it worked. It smells really bad, like seriously nasty chemicals. You will need adequate ventilation and an N95 mask. This stuff is no joke. You also have a window of 3-4 hours before it hardens. If one person gets light headed from the crazy smell, it’s nice to have a second person to tag in. It covers really well, and it does not chip off over time with shower usage. We are going on one year, and it still looks great. I would recommend having lots of rollers available. The foam ones work best. This stuff is mega thick, and the rollers go bad quickly. You will also need sponge brushes for detail and tons of those because the thickness of the stuff will cause those to break a lot. ... show more

First: don't breathe it in. Seriously. It's the most noxious fumes I've ever smelled ever. Second: this works AMAZINGLY. We had to refinish a tub that was approx 70 years old (steel/iron tub casted white) in a house where people had previously smoked for 30+ years. While we tore down every wall and sanded the paint off the ceilings we could never get the staining out the tub and there were chips from where we removed the previous sliding shower doors. I read the instructions, read many reviews and watched plenty of YouTube videos. The prep was extensive as I knew it would be. In addition to scrubbing with a whole can of Comet and removing all caulk, I also used a scraper to get the clear coat off. After prep work was complete, I used a blow dryer to get all the crevices bone dry. I used tack cloth obsessively. With all my research, I was able to quickly get two full kits on three walls and the basin of a stand up shower. I knew the material was aggressive, and I went through 5 (yes, 5) sponge brushes and three rollers. The paint covered well and only a few of the corners needed a second touch up. Since I was using two kits, I only mixed the second when the first was empty and I didn't experience any issues with the paint getting gummy. The application took about 2.5 hours with no breaks. Two kits covered my brown "marble" shower surround and shower basin. One lesson learned is to protect all surfaces in your bathroom as my vanity now needs some elbow grease to get a few drips off. I was almost prepared for everything except how my house smelled when I took my respirator off. I'm a safety professional by trade, and I could not have anticipated how strong the vapors were throughout my whole house. During application, I closed my bathroom door, opened a window and used a small fan to push the vapors out. This wasn't enough. After I took my respirator off, I quickly realized my dog and I couldn't safely sleep in the house. I quickly packed us a bag and fled to my friend's house for the night. Overall, I'm pleased with the product. Do your research. Be prepared for every step of application. In hindsight, I should have purchased a window fan to manually pull vapors for the room instead of relying on a small table fan propped on my counter. I'll update my review once I'm able to occupy my house again! Update: One year later and the coating is still perfectly intact. I recently recaulked the shower, and the coating survived scraping off the old caulk. I'm still very, very happy with the results. ... show more

On the house we just bought the bath tub had flaking paint on the bath tub, I acquired this kit to refinish it, first step was to completely sand off the previous paint given it was already falling off. I used a sander to remove it faster. Then I proceeded to apply the new paint, applying it is straight forward. One thing to consider, the instructions tell you to apply the anti-skid at the bottom of the tub as step 1, if you do this don't use the same roller as the sand will get all over the other surfaces. Overall, very satisfied with the outcome, we've been using the tub as a shower only for 45 days now and the paint looks great, hopefully it will last for a couple of years. Don't forget to buy a good mask and have ventilation, the odor is heavy. ... show more

I wanted to love this. It went on great and covered my pink tile tub surround. Unfortunately even though I very very carefully followed the full instructions to the letter, it chipped right away and large chunks fell off. I wish I could get a refund and it was a waste of time.

    • Instructions were incorrect

Instructions in the box say you have one hour to apply paint once it’s mixed. I didn’t know how anyone could paint that fast and do a good job. I called the company, and the rep said I must be reading the instructions wrong, because you have three hours to use the paint once it’s mixed. She went and pulled a box from the warehouse, read the instructions herself, and realized they were printed incorrectly. So don’t be alarmed if you receive a box that says you only have one hour to paint, because I doubt if they will recall all the boxes they’ve sold to distributors and re-insert the correct instructions. This paint is NOT FOR A NOVICE PAINTER. Imagine if you mixed Elmer’s glue and honey and tried to paint with it. It was a nightmare……and I’m an experienced painter. The paint also does not go as far as advertised, as I almost didn’t have enough to finish the job. According to instructions, I should have had enough to paint a tub AND shower walls, and there was only enough to paint the tub. The fumes are overwhelming and last for days. You definitely MUST wear gloves, because if if gets on your skin it will not wash off. I would never attempt this again in order to save money. Whatever you have to pay for a professional to do the job is worth every cent! ... show more
