Magic Tub & Tile Refinishing Spray On Kit is a great solution for giving your bathroom sink, tub or tile a fresh long-lasting finish. This high performance, one part epoxy is specially formulated to stand up to moisture and make your fixtures look like new. Avoid the hassles of remodeling projects by restoring life to your existing fixtures. If you have tried everything to clean old stained, rusted tubs & tile and you're still unsatisfied, refinishing can be a great cost-effective option to get the like-new look you desire. The bright white, clean results are worth the time and effort! Each kit covers 35-45 square feet. Do I need to prep my tub & tile before I begin refinishing? YES - The prep work is very important to achieve the best results. The bathroom itself will need some prep work and the surface will need to be cleaned & prepped as directed before you begin spraying. Refer to instructions inside the packaging. Will I need any additional items to use this refinishing kit? YES - Required items include: Safety glasses, rubber gloves, abrasive scrubbing pad, abrasive cleaner, TSP (Trisodium Phosphate) Cleaner, bucket, #400/#600 grit wet/dry sandpaper, tack cloth, masking/painters tape, drop cloth or masking film. How many coats of paint are needed, and how long does the paint take to dry? For most projects, 2-3 coats are sufficient. Do not add additional coats more than 6 hours after the application of the first coat. Allow your final coat to dry at least 72 hours before exposing to water. Do I need to be concerned with ventilation? YES - You will need to ensure you have properly ventilated your area by opening windows and/or using fans before you begin using this product. The total project time will depend somewhat on the size and condition of the surface you are refinishing. You should plan to dedicate at least 2-3 hours of time for surface preparation and application of the first coat. Most projects will require 2-3 coats. Allow for 30 minutes of drying time between each coat. The final coat should be applied within six hours of the application of the first coat and should be left to dry for at least 72 hours before exposing to water.

I'm renovating my son's bathroom that has the old, pink, trim tiles and tub. I've never painted tile before so I taped everything off and had the idea to use Kilz primer on part of the trim tiles first to see if that would help with covering the medium pink color. It did, but it's totally not necessary to use primer first. I used just this spray on the wall tiles part of the bathroom to see which way is better and it's much better by itself and this product comes out smoother and shinier without using a primer first. It's not a thick spray, normal spray paint consistency, so it leaked a tiny bit under the tape along the grout line, but was really easy to clean up my lines with some careful sanding after it dried. Comes right off with sand paper, but not my nails when I scratched it so see how it holds up. The smell is a beast so figure out how to ventilate the area and wear a painter's mask if it bothers you too much. I just took lots of breaks, kept the bathroom vent fan running, and had a standing fan blowing in the room to keep the air moving. It took two coats to cover the pink completely and looks perfect. Prepared my double well fiberglass sink as the instructions directed. It cover my sinks very well and is very tough whwen finished! My sink was in terrible shape as far as the color until this made it look brand new again.

Whoever thought this product should come in a spray can must have been huffing the noxious fumes that fill your entire house when using it. Not only is this spray absolutely toxic and beyond horrible for small space such as bathrooms- you know- where showers and tubs are, the amount of over spray regardless of how much plastic and tape you put down will complete ruin any light fixture, walls, paint, bathroom hardware, cabinets, etc. On top of the seriously incredible mess that is makes, for a standard tub/shower you will need a minimum of 8 cans, sprayed at septate times, so yes, that's 8 coats, too come anywhere close to an acceptable finish. I think something is wrong with the formula because it's not hard and shiny like the pictures, it's basically canned powder and it does not seal at all. I could write my name in it like a later of dust. As soon as you turn on the shower to try and use it, half of it comes off- all over you and floor. This product contains many cancerous chemicals and believe me they will permeate your skin, hair, the bathroom, and literally your entire home. Save yourself the ridiculous mess, health risks, money, and time and just use something else like a roll on finish. I completely regret using this product and would absolutely never recommend it. It ruined my shower/tub and EVERYTHING in my bathroom. ... show more

UPDATE: Three weeks and I see chips. This is a very low use sink. Disappointing. Had an old bathroom sink that didn't go well with the rest of the room. It was cream color with heavily patterned flowers which I didn't like. I looked at replacing it but couldn't find a sink with no holes so decided to try painting it. I chose spray over rollers or brushes. I cleaned it well and worked in the garage (with doors open) and used a heavy mask (not a medical mask). I did four light sprays letting it dry an hour in between. It looks pretty good though the texture is not as smooth as I hoped. Maybe I didn't clean it as well as I thought and left behind some grit from sanding. It still looks way better than before and I'm happy with it. Funny how one change can make such a big difference. Pix 1 is original sink, pix 2 is after first coat (I did four very light coats). Last pix is the sink installed. Looks way better than having a flowery sink with the highly patterned tile (installed by previous owner). ... show more

I worked hard preparing this old tub for refinishing and bought this product to complete the job thinking this would be easy. It wasn't easy. Being a spray paint, I built a plastic tent over the tub protecting walls and floor and everything else withing 20 feet that floating paint dust would adhere to. This worked great. My first can worked fine, but soon after starting the second can it stopped spraying paint. Then I found that it would only spray paint if I held the can up side down. If I held it upright, all that came out was air. Once the second can was empty I was not impressed with the end result. I endured those toxic fumes for this? Speaking of fumes. I don't think there's an ingredient in this can that won't kill you. How does one ventilate a small bathroom with a small ceiling fan and no window? You can't. You either die from the fumes or you get creative. I took my shop vac and connected the hose to the air output. Then I added more hose so I had about ten feet of it. I then carefully connected the end of the hose to the air intake of an inexpensive old full face snorkeling mask. The mask designed to breath in from the tube, but breath out from the front. I stuck the shop vac outside the bathroom, flipped it on and slipped on the mask. Too much pressure, but plenty of fresh air. I had to hold the mask with one hand because of the pressure, but I barely smelled the fumes while painting. The fumes from this product are not quite as bad as that time I unwittingly mixed chlorine bleach with ammonia. That concoction closes up your airway immediately. Fumes from this product take a minute to accomplish near the same thing. Sorry, back to the product. Somehow, I ended up not having enough paint do do the job on this small tub. The tub was white, but most of it had a flat primer white look instead of a nice shiny porcelain white look. What a PITA this was just to paint the bathtub with an acrylic paint. At least the tub is white and no longer yellow and orange stained and nasty looking. (Since the day I moved in, but I never used it so who cares?) I had previously refinished the master bath tub with a granite treatment meant for counters. (I did the counter too.) That product insisted it not be used on tubs or showers. I ignored it and it's been fine for three years so far. I did not have to deal with toxic fumes that time and it came out looking so much better. I should have done that to this tub. Too late and too much work involved so I'm just gonna get some acrylic clear coat I can brush on. I used standard acrylic gloss white spray paint and itworked just fine, but I went ahead and sprayed on a couple of coats of clear gloss too. It looks a thousand times better than this product did and the fumes didn't try to kill me. As I mentioned earlier, the product I used that is specifically meant for counter tops is pretty much just acrylic paint applied with a sponge and then covered with a clear coat. If it can tolerate the abuse the kitchen counter gets I figured it could surely handle bare feet in my master bath tub - and it does. I'm out of tubs, but if I were to do another one, I would just buy acrylic paints to do the job. Much more cost effective than wasting my money on a product like this. ... show more

I did the bottom of my fiberglass 5-foot tub which had three cracks I had repaired with epoxy. These repair spots were certainly going to give a potential buyer of my house a negative feeling. (Whether people consciously see defects or not, they see them subconsciously.) I put 4 coats on the bottom of the tub (2 would have been fine), using up one of the two cans. IT LOOKS GREAT! SHINY! AWESOME! Follow the directions! Clean it well. Spray it on at a high room temperature so when the coatings cool they are in compression (as opposed to applying cool, causing the coatings to expand and crack when the room gets warm). I am allowing it to cure at a high room temperature for the recommended 72-hours. I did not rate Durability, but with the excellent-and-easy spraying and the awesome shiny coating, I am fairly confident that it will last. ... show more
