Placed on my stainless min14 ranch because I decided I really needed some magnification on that rifle. Color of this Barska is more of a semi-shiny bright silver. Don't know if I like it on that particular weapon. Optics look sharp enough to me, although when aiming at a bright white cloud, a bit dim and a tiny bit yellow compared to a cvlife 3x9x40 scope that cost 1/2 as much. Optics definitely below a Burris 3x9x40 that I also had out that day, but that scope cost 2x as much. Somewhere along the lines of a simmons 8pt I have. Colorado scope as a whole looks good. I chose this based off of a really decent pair of 3x9x32 Rimfire scopes I purchased from Barska. Those have been really good scopes. If this one breaks I WILL update. Rings are pretty flimsy, especially the Phillips head screws. I wouldn't trust those on anything above a 22. ... show more

Replacing a Simmons 3-9x 40mm that must have gotten loose inside and wandering after every shot. Not too many silver scopes out there. The reviews here convinced me to try it. I might be 5 starring early since I just mounted it. But I have to say I am really pleased with the clear, sharp view and the very comfortable eye relief. ONLY Negative on this scope, As stated in other reviews, the threads on the caps are very fine, aluminum on plastic. A Recipe for trouble but I hope to have little need of any more adjusting after getting zero'd in. Looking forward to sighting it in and hoping the optics stay solid for years to come.     • On the Lower power settings, the difference is marginal
I have been in the military. I have hunted for 40 plus years. I have looked through a lot of glass. I will compare it to other scopes costing two to three times as much (or ten times). I can't tell the difference on the lower power settings up to about 6x. Most hunters will never be able to either. 100 yards, spot on, this scope dialed right in with very little adjustment. Lets be honest, you read all about 1/2 inch groups at 500 yards, yadda yadda yadda blah blah blah. What you need is to be able to do is be dead on a target at 100 yards and hit a paper plate at 200 yards. If you can do that, there is food on the table. $45 here, plus a nice little Marlin X7 for about $299 (.270 or .308), you have a deadly combination that will perform admirably. ... show more

Seems like a decent scope on the cheap. I like the see through dust covers included. It looks and feels like a budget scope but, hey, that's why we're here. Looking through it and playing with the zoom all seems ok. Little heads up on the mounts....these WON'T FIT the 3/8 dove tail on a .22. I was only putting it on a Marlin 60 so wasn't looking high end. Unfortunately, I didn't look close and the included mounts won't fit. Gotta spend 10 to 15 bucks and get some .22 rings and then I'll update after the range. For now...seems ok. Rings...oops...disappointment. Lens clear. Fingers crossed. ... show more
