  • Superior Sound Quality/Premium, Sleek Design. If You Can Look Past the Software.
Color: Black Anthracite
***Sound, 5 stars: Perfection --The sound quality is amazing on these buds. Especially, when you sync that up with an EQ, they are able to produce a much more customizable and dynamic sound stage. You will hear every instrument and vocal note in perfect clarity. The superior sound quality is an incredible accomplishment. However, that's what one should expect for these at this price range. Now, let me talk about where B&O falls short and why I don't exactly agree with the tag on these. ***Design: Sleek, premium, sexy, 4.5 stars --It is *almost* flawless. Aside from fitting issues (as I'll mention below), the design is excellent and definitely feels luxurious/premium. ***Software: Leaves much to be desired, 2 stars --For such a sleek and sexy design, the software is where they fall short extensively. The fact I am not able to -seamlessly- switch between devices is just ridiculous. In order for you to rock these on another paired device you have to do a hard disconnect and reconnect. That just sucks. Especially if you have a setup where your phone and computer are integrated, and you want to resume what you were doing in another room on your phone/Bluetooth enabled device. Yes, it can remember up 6 devices (I think that's what they said), but the hard disconnect/reconnect is an unacceptable *bug* at this price range. The app is decent, it supplies a watered-down equalizer to allow customization of the sound stage. For me, it's good enough. But if you are the type that likes precision adjustments to your sound, then you will not get that with the app. You will need a separate equalizer. Also, the app takes forever to find the earbuds. There is just too much time between putting them in your ears, connecting, opening the app, and then finally changing the sound. The left earbud will sometimes completely drop out while the right bud keeps playing. Thus, you must sometimes put the bud giving you trouble back in the case in order to get them synced back up. For $400, to have that kind of persistent and experience-breaking problem is unacceptable in my opinion. The buds will also (out of nowhere) while running my music become out of sync. The sound becomes extremely choppy. The solution is to either pause the music to let the sound sync back up, but if that doesn't work, then you'll have to put the buds back in the case to and put back on to sync. --I am sure you have read other reviews, and seen you cannot skip, replay, or go back a track on the earbud's multipoint sensors. This is true. Instead, they opted for a feature that I think is much more trivial and useless. You can adjust the volume through double tapping on the left or right earbud (volume down, volume up, respectively). Why they did this the world may never know. It would have been a much more useful feature to instead be able to change the playback you are listening to on the earbuds when your device is out of immediate reach. ***Battery Life: Good, 4 stars. --I don't listen to music or playbacks at ear-bleeding volume levels, so I am able to squeeze out as much battery time as possible before having to put them back in the case to charge. I have found them to last a generous 7.5 hours, with ANC off. ***Noise Cancellation/Ambient Sound: Good enough, 4 stars. --For my purposes, the noise cancellation is good. It's a little harder to notice when you go from the Sony XM4 Earbuds (like I did) to these, but it fulfills its function adequately in blocking out ambient noises. I hear just a tiny, tiny bit of feedback from the earbuds when it's on, but definitely not annoying at all. Noise cancellation gets 4 stars from me. Not industry leading, but not abysmal either. Just right. The ambient sound on these also fulfills its purpose. It's not terrible, but it's not amazing. You'll get a kind of robo-like quality from voices, but it's not terrible. ***Fit: Ergonomics lacking, 3.5 stars: --I must say I was a little disappointed when I was finding the right fit for these. My ear canals are on the small-ish side. However, neither the medium silicone tips nor the small tips supplied were able to create a good enough seal. So, I reluctantly opted with the comply foam tips they supplied. It makes the buds a bit bulky when putting them in the charging case because there is no click feedback from the pull of the magnets telling me that the buds have snapped in and are charging. I find myself fiddling with the buds every time I put them in the case to make sure they are sitting correctly. ***Charging case: Excellent, minimalist design with a satisfying click when you close it, 4.5 stars --My only gripe with the charging case is I wish it stored more juice and had a little more depth to accommodate the comply foam tips. I wanted to give these 5 stars just on the sound alone, but with all the little quirks and issues I have run into it does not justify it, especially when you consider the price these run for. Fix the software, and I will be more than happy to give that 5th star back. If I think of any more to add, I will update my review. ****UPDATE**** Huge improvements to quality of life in a recent software update. I am now able to have my earbuds paired simultaneously to my phone and computer. ALSO, they just added track forward and backward on the multipoint touch sensor (Android). Connection speed has improved dramatically as well. BIG props to B&O for listening to its customers. It's this kind of pouncing at the criticism that will secure customers for life. The buds still suffer from connection issues, but it's not as bad as before the update. Tell B&O Sofware development to keep up the great work. Your customers appreciate it. I am updating my 4 star rating to 5 stars. Please continue down this path of improving the software/app. Aside from the fitting issues, and the things covered above (that wont be actionable on until B&O releases a new generation) the package they've put together is stellar ,just keep at it with the updates. I am content with this purchase and plan on keeping these as my go-to. ... show more

  • A Grade-A, Danish Company Makes a Bad Product And Does Nothing About Fixing the Problems
Color: Nordic Ice
Bang & Olufsen let loose a wild and toothless pussy cat—the True Wireless EQ. Simply put, they simply do not work at least this batch did not. Their Chinese producers must have been either sick or mad at them when they made this particular batch for B&zoom. In my opinion, these EQs are majorly flawed in so many ways: 1. The Bluetooth connection once made disappears from Apple’s Settings.and can’t be reconnected; Even though though the EQs automatically pair and connect to Bluetooth in Settings, I found that after downloading the Bang & Olufsen App in the App Store and then listen to some music that if you return the EQs to the case and recharge them for any amount of time the EQs no longer show in In Settings>Bluetooth. The only solution should be is to do a factory reset reset however, the reset also fails completely.. Now your only solution is to return the for an exchange to where you purchased them or to Bang & Olufsen where if a defect is found a replacement will be sent to you—no hassle or fuss. 2. I found that if you use the handset or speakerphone on your call to make or take a phone call (at least on an iPhone) and you are have your EQs out of the charging case the call will notoriously switch over to the EQs without warning. I experienced this many times when speaking to Bang & Olufsen’s Tech Support. I thought the call had been mysteriously disconnected and I had to call back and never once did I talk to the same person. 3. There is no way to control Transparency in the App—or at least I could not find one and neither could their Tech Support person. 4. Having no detailed EQ setting as opposed to picking one of five settings such as ‘Bright’ or using a wheel that lets you choose those same five EQ settings or somewhere between two of the named settings. However, one is limited to this ‘mixed’ setting only if the two abutting settings the user wants to mix B&O has placed them next to each other. For most users, the wheel is enough but for those wanting more equalizer control, would it have been just as easy for B&O to have both ways to add the mor detailed equalizer control? 5. Having the absolute, singular worst battery life in the EQs against some.of the most popular brands of Truly Wireless Earphones including Sony, Sennheiser, Bowers & Wilkins whose PI7 are sold at the same pricepoint as the EQs ($399.000) with longer battery life should be an extreme embarrassment for B&O—don’t you think? 6. The volume is not loud enough for some music to be heard properly. Even if the volume is set to maximum in the App, it’s simply not loud enough to hear all instruments in orchestral music or individual voices in most other music. In most popular music today, I wish there would have been some way to have the vocals not be drowned out by the background music; 7. Don’t even try to talk to someone using the EQs. You won’t be able to hear them; and finally, 8. The instructions for doing a factory reset do not work. When two of your Customer Service/Technical Support team members were assisting me to perform one on the first set of EQs I purchased from Amazon, we together tried at least 7-8 times but could never get it to work. And again today, Sunday with another team member and I had the same issue. Thirdly, one of the four team members I spoke with on Thursday sent me an email which contained a link to written instructions of how to perform a factory reset. The written instructions were basically the same the they had me do but I got the same results. NO FACTORY RESET; ERGO, NO WAY TO RECONNECT TO BLUETOOTH>RETURN TO SELLER>NO EQs FOR MY LISTENING PLEASURE. I am sure there are other settings that are not offered to the user or the user has a limited use of a particular setting. For $419.00 plus tax for the Limited Edition in Nordic Ice (color) which is nothing more than Silver, these EQs are terribly flawed and not worth even $50.00. I have had the original E8s and had to send the first sets in to B&O twice. Both sets had defects and the first set was replaced with a second set of E8s but B&O replaced the second set of E8s with the E8 Motion(s). Finally, I had a set of Truly Wireless Earphones that were worth the price I paid for them which ere nowhere near the cost of the EQs. Sadly, why a company that produces speakers that are so brilliantly designed as well as produced with such great sound with well-balanced bass, mid-range and upper register tones, superbly blended and that makes some of the best speakers in the world today has so miserably failed to produce possibly the singular worst Truly Wireless Earphones made today is perplexing. What really hurts me so profoundly is that knowing so many professional reviews both written and on video along with those written by consumers have pointed out these same issues and problems I have reiterated here, is that Bang & Olufsen has not done anything to correct these issues. Whether B&O is resting on its laurels because its name known for making top quality speakers and over-ear headsets. Having known these weaknesses and flaws for the nearly three-quarters of a year should have done a worldwide recall after correcting these issues B&O should have done a total recall and replaced the faulty EQs when corrected. Or if these issues could or even can be corrected by a SOFTWARE update, then it’s still time to do so. The third alternative is to do both if necessary. If this highly a flawed earbud were made by Apple, for example, I am very sure that they would have taken a swift counteraction to do whatever was necessary to fix all these issues. Apple is very protective of their quality build of their all products released to the public for sale. Had someone bet me any amount of money that B&O would release such a badly manufactured product I would have taken them up on the bet. I need to say that the one big POSITIVE thing I got to experience in the three and one-half hours of listening to music—about one-half of Beethoven’s nine symphonies the sound is absolutely AWESOME! Of all the reviews I read, this is the one thing that all reviewers agreed on. Not only were/are the EQ’s top rated for sound, but it is probably the best sound of all Truly Wireless Earphones sold today. I was simply transformed from an ordinary human on Earth to something close to being what I believe Heaven will be like. ... show more
