These are a great hard-to-find four-ounce size. I have never found these in a store. I love loose tea, and wanted a convenient way to store it at work. The two-ounce “shot-glass” size was too small, and the larger 8 ounce size was way too big, these are perfect. I use half of these (6 out of a 12 pack) for storing my loose tea at work, the traditional Ball-style sealing top keeps my tea fresh and smelling like it did when I first opened it. The other six I use in the freezer. These freeze well. I’ve tried other glass jars and some have cracked. These are thick, and because they come straight up (that is the mouth is the same opening as the rest) they are safer for freezing. We are a family of two, so often 8 ounce jars of sauce or gravy go bad in the fridge before we are able to use the other half. With these we open a traditional 8 ounce jar, use half and freeze the other 4 ounces in these. I do NOT fill these right up to the rim, so there is some room for expansion when freezing. When we are ready to use the other half just defrost overnight in the fridge, or pop in the microwave (tops off, of course) because these are glass I don’t worry about plastic leaching into the food. Very pleased with these. They are easily stackable and don’t take up much space. These arrived well packed and none were broken. I think a dozen suits our needs but I would not hesitate to buy these again if I discovered another use for them. ... show more

I used these little 4oz jars to make jam for Christmas gifts this year. They were the perfect size for coworkers and family members. I really liked the quilted look of the jars. They worked fine and I still processed the jam in the jars like I normally would without any problems. My family members have given them back to me after finishing their jam and I have used it to store after school snacks in it for my son. I usually have some veggies or fruit that I cut up, in it ready for him when he gets hungry. Update: 2/11/2016 Since I received 98% of the jars back since the holidays, I have continued to use them for snacks for my son. However, I wanted to share that we recently used a jar that lost a lid, in a craft project. Which in reality isn't that big of a deal, since you can find lids very easily to go on them. However, we were looking at a magazine we found and seen they made a bunny basket out of rope. We do not have any rope, but we do have some twine on hand. My 6 year old son and I together made a bunny or mouse (depends on who you ask) a little holder for his buttons can have a special place. I included the pictures of our craft project, in hopes that helps you. So I just wanted to mention in an updated post that these jars are perfect sizes for making jams as gifts or using them to store fruit and veggies in the fridge for after school, but I believe my son's favorite use of these jars is using them in craft projects. He is already thinking of some other ideas to use them for, like to plant flowers in them for his teacher, and to create other storage for his other small craft pieces. ... show more

Wow!!! What a perfect way to ship Ball glass jars. Nothing broken. Each jar had its own cardboard "nest" to protect the jars during shipment. The packaging is so perfect that I will keep the box and the "nests" to pack my canning jars when we move. Thank you Ball, job well done.
