I debated ordering between L or XL as a size 34/36 waist, 6' 2" and 220 lb slightly athletic mixed with dad bod build. The size guide says I should get L which is odd as I haven't fit in large anything since a 32 inch waste. Every single dang review said "true to size" which meant to me: follow the size guide. I'm glad I went with my gut. I ended up ordering XL and its perfect. Any more snug and it would feel like a skinny jeans version of athletic shorts. Any more loose and I feel like I would be a bit ghetto looking although XXL would work better than L if I did miss guess the size. The waist does stretch and holds firm, but I feel the tightness is thighs would be too much if you went true to size, especially if you have thicker thighs. I wanted these for working out mainly and I'm glad I ordered the XL as a 34/36 typical waist size! They'd be great for basketball too as they go down to barely above my knees, any longer and they'd be too long. ... show more
