This was my first time buying soil for succulents, and I was really happy with the Back to the Roots mix. When I opened the bag, it did feel slightly damp, but that’s normal for organic soil and it didn’t smell bad at all. The texture is light and drains well, which is important for succulents. I did notice some small twigs and bits of bark, but after learning more, I found out that’s actually good—it helps with airflow and keeps the soil from getting compacted. My plants have been settling in nicely, and I feel confident as a first-time grower that this was the right choice. I also love that it’s organic and made in the USA.
