I have been athletic since I was 20. Now in my 60s, I continue to work out heavily on the treadmill and Peloton for 90 minutes each day. While I have reaped the benefits of being in shape and in good health, my body occasionally takes the toll of all the abuse that it's put through. For instance, I am having lower back issues. I get it on and off throughout the year so I tend to ignore it and chalk it up to the level of exercise I put my body through. The thing is, my back hurts and I felt that if could add more support to it during a workout, I would feel more comfortable. This BOKIC back brace is the answer I was looking for. It is well-constructed and made with premium stretch neoprene, which is well-ventilated to deal with sweating during workouts. Prior to purchasing I used the product sizing chart to determine my waist size. This is not the waist size of my pants. You need to take a garment measurer and wrap it around your stomach to determine proper sizing. In my case, it indicated a LARGE. The brace fit perfectly. It has a two-tier velcro fastening system around the front of the body which ensures it stays in place during exercise. While it feels somewhat heavy while exercising, I found the level of support in keeping my body perfectly positioned to be the positive trade-off. Any pain I was experiencing during exercise had now been contained. This is a quality brace which I would not hesitate to recommend.

100% recommend: Go for the larger size. There is enough Velcro that both hubby and I (she) can wear the same brace. Have tried other brands that say XL and at best they would fit a medium sized waist. This is WIDE. If you are strapping it on. Get a wide brace. Even just wearing sitting at the desk helps your posture. This is not my first back brace, but honest, once you buy one and wear it, you will love the concept. Husband HAD back surgery and feels no pain. He has also had multiple knee surgeries. He has had shoulder surgery. he needs to hold himself together to not fall apart. But I (she) wear one as well. I just like the support it gives me when I am doing lifting and strenuous yard work. The other "style" we have is a brace with over-the-shoulder suspender style. This is similar, in that it does not have suspensers.

Given my back issues, I use a brace at times when performing repetitive activities that I don't regularly do (things like painting, mulching the flowerbeds, etc). This particular brace caught my attention due to it's width. Other braces that I have used are wide in the back but significantly thinner in the front, a design that becomes more impractical as I get older. The continuous wide deside of this brace makes it very comfortable and more effective (in my opinion). You should definitely pay attention to the sizing in the product description and how to determine your specific size, as these do not align to other clothing sizes that you would typically take. Overall, I really like this brace and I definitely think that it works well. I did notice that the metal strips in the back are far more flexible than those in other braces that I've used, so keep that in mind as well to determine if this will work for your purposes.

At my advanced age, some days are better than others! My back sometimes gives me some problems, and this brace is just enough to help me feel a little better - especially if I am outside doing yardwork and bending down a lot or using the weed-eater. This helps me keep my back straight, without being too tight around my stomach. This is not very bulky, so if you wanted to wear this under clothes, it would not be too noticeable. You could also fit an icepack or heating pad on your back and this will hold it in place. It did not have any strong odor to it, and the straps all have the good kind of velcro, so they will stay in place even with a lot of movement!

Wide compression back/hip belt. I have hip belts an lower back belts I use depending on where the pain is. Sometimes I use both at the same time and they overlap annoyingly. I was hoping this would be able to do both. And it does. It is the only belt I have ever gotten that come with instructions. Even though it's pretty evident how you use one - it would be nearly impossible to put it on wrong unless you tried to put one on your neck. It's not super thick. Allows for moderate breathing - but you'd definitely want to have a tee shirt underneath it. Support is okay. Reminiscent of a back brace for work to use while lifting - without the shoulder straps. There is no upper vs lower separate tension straps to adjust - which would be great for as wide as it is. You will either have too much tension in one area or not enough in another. It will be evident you are wearing this even with a baggy shirt on over it as it "grabs" the shirt when moving. For me - it is okay for a short time while not active. But not for an all day brace or while out and about. It is wide enough to put a cooling or heating pack and hold it in place where you need it.
