This did give my back some support, relieving some pressure that I have in my lower back. The brace is a little more on the flexible side versu rigid support. Additionally, the sizing (I ordered the biggest size) was quite large, and it fit well in that aspect. The mesh is a nice touch, as it is breathable and not not as likely to trap heat in, thus not making you sweat as much as other fabrics. I like that it covers a large amount of space, so that I'm able to get my upper hips and lower back.

I didn't know there was so many things to know about back braces. But what I found out is you have to get the right kind of brace for your specific ailment. There are soft back braces for muscle strains, sprains and general back discomfort. And there are rigid back braces that provide maximum support and stability to the spine by immobilizing it. They are typically prescribed for severe back injuries, spinal fractures, or post operative recovery. That being said, no wonder my husbands back hurts and the brace he wears is totally the wrong kind. I asked him to put this one on and wear it around and tell me his thoughts. He said it was alot more comfortable, it allowed him more movement, It didnt get hot and make him sweat like his other one does. And that when his back did start to give him problems this brace would be much better than the one he wears with all the hard metal and plastic parts and the shoulder straps that he can only tolerate in short doses. I told him that all this time he was wearing the wrong kind of brace and all he needed was a soft brace like this one for when he strains his self or has spasms and discomfort from overdoing it. He will be able to tolerate this one much better because it was designed for what he needed it to do. The real test will come when he actually has problems, but in the meantime we learned something new and at least we have the correct orthopedic device to lessen his down time and hopefully pain level. It's always the best practice to go to the doctor for a more localized plan for your wellbeing. but until you can make that happen bracing up is helpful for stability and possibly not furthering your injury. This brace in my book deserves all 5 stars. It is made well, is lightweight, provides support and has made me a little smarter on my brace choices! I'm glad I chose it to review.

This back brace really supported my lumbar and has numerous customization options. There are 2 straps that crisscross the back of it, and each end of each strap can velcro in the front at whatever angle and tightness you need. This feature is what really got my back to feel the most support. I was really hoping to get some sciatic relief from this, as I've been having a bad couple weeks of sciatic pain on my right leg. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a position or tightness on this brace that helped at all with my sciatic pain. Maybe just because mine has been so bad for weeks, I don't know. Otherwise I feel this is an excellent back brace.

I usually get a small size, and I measured before getting this one.. but it's still quite smaller than a small. It's also quite tall, so for someone short like me, it's a bit large in that sense. It's just an awkward shape and size for a small, so I recommend if you are medium or larger, then it would fit for you fine but maybe choose a size up just in case since you can tighten it but can't loosen it much. It also has a slightly rubbery smell, not as strong as others I have bought and hated. I didn't find it helped my back pain as much as other belts that are shorter in height, so this is just an adequate belt and I don't think I will be using it much. :(
