    • Just what we needed
We are just starting to learn about model train layouts. We had a basic oval N scale track and an older controller, which had 2 screws for DC connection & 2 for AC. I’d been told N scale track used DC, so the 2 AC screws were free. We wanted to add some switches and ordered the Kato DC converter, hoping it would allow us to control a switch. It was just what we needed. It’s really clever. The converter is wired to the AC screws on the track controller. There’s snaps on the side of the converter and the switch control. They just snap together and additional switch controls just snap to each other so you only need one converter. We’ve got 4 switch controls plugged together now. It’s very cool. ... show more

As with all Kato products, this is very high quality. If you are not using a Katobpower pack to power your Kato turnout controllers, you need this as an interface between another power pack and the controllers.

It is soooo compact and perfectly mates to Kato's analog sound box in seconds. Runs all day and never hesitates. What more could you want for a dc converter? Great price, immediately compatible and small footprint to take up no space at all. Very reliable and a great purchase.

I bought the Kato DC Converter and the Kato Terminal Adaptor Cord, which allowed me to use my non-Bachmann train controller to run a Kato Model 22-101 Sound Box to add sound effects to my N scale train layout. Easy to use, they work as advertised.
