Finding the on button took a minute but I loved it as it was recessed and not easily turned off unless I want it off. After years of owning various $30 flat irons from Target, the last one of which burned my hair quite badly on a surprisingly low setting (even my stylist was scratching her head), I decided it was time to invest in a decent one. I couldn’t quite bring myself to splurge on the GHD, so I went with this one. I have long, thick, typical Asian hair, and if blow-dried alone or left to dry naturally, it looks pretty hideous, and blowouts take a lot of time and energy. So I bought the 2” flat iron for days I don’t need to meet the public but also don’t want to look like depression personified. It heats up quickly to the 365° so-called “ideal temperature” and I can do my entire head in 5-10 minutes. No issues with accessing or accidentally triggering the controls, and no hair-pulling. I didn’t think the heating elements affected the temperature of the handle, but then again, I’m also not using the highest settings. My only quibble: The 8’ cord came in handy while styling in front of a hotel mirror while my husband was in the bathroom, but for everyday use and storage, it’s a bit excessive. ... show more

Bought this as a replacement for my very old HSI flat iron. It straightens my hair very well and leaves it shiny. Has a variety of temperatures to pick from, easy to turn on with button, a bright light to let you know it's on, and not heavy. One major flaw I've noticed is that strands of my hair get stuck in the plates (between the plastic section and where the plate starts at the top) and pulls/rips my hair. Doesn't feel too good. I've gone through so many flat irons and have never come across one that catches my hair like this, so it's quite frustrating! But otherwise it works well. **I'll try to add a picture later of where it catches my hair. I've been using it for a few months now - I've tried using smaller sections, going slower, everything I can think of, and it stills rips my hair.
