Was a great curling iron until it wasn’t. Only worked for a year. It still looks brand new and turns on but never heats up. Very disappointed because my Chi worked for 3 years until the clip broke and IT still heats up.

I really like this curling iron: it’s made pretty well, swivel cord works like it’s supposed to, heat is even, barrel is a little longer than some which is fine. Only problem is that I deal with crimped/bent pieces which is really annoying. I think it’s because the clamp is tight and heavy. So, if you only put an inch of hair at a time and keep the barrel very perpendicular to the strand (not angled), then it’ll be ok. That being the case, this is not a pull-through curling iron because it clamps the hair too tightly for that. However, if I follow the steps I just mentioned, it actually helps my fine hair to get a tighter curl than other irons I’ve used in the past.

So I bought this upgrading from a drugstore curling iron. Turns out all curling irons are not created equal. This biggest difference between this one and the drugstore curling iron is that my hair slides through this beautifully. I am somewhat inept at using a curling iron and no matter what my hair does not get caught or pinched AT ALL in the hinge or the clamp. It's actually amazing how I don't have to be careful at all and my hair slides out of the clamp every time. The temperature control is the only thing I don't like. It's a dial you twist at the base of the clamp and there are about 6 temperature settings ranging from 210F to 400F. The middle of the range is goes from 250, 330, 380. I don't feel like 330 is hot enough for my medium hair and 380 is a bit too hot. I wish there was a middle range between those options. The iron overall feels very gentle and doesn't get as hot as the drugstore one does (the 330 on this one feels lower than 330 on my drugstore iron). So if you want high hot heat for your hair, this might not work. I just did my first curls with it so we'll see how my hair holds after being curled with lower heat. If you have fine or delicate hair, this will work great as there are more options at the lower temperature settings. The 1 1/4 inch iron created very loose waves in my collarbone length hair. If I were to choose again, I would probably go with the 1 inch for loose curls at my length.

This is the best curling iron I have ever used! I have a wand without a clamp that I also love but the clamp just gives curls a different look that I love. I originally saw this at Ulta, the only difference is that it was longer (better for longer hair) but it was discontinued so I hopped on here and found this one and I love it! I'm even using it to do my wedding hair with!

No matter what I have tried, I seem to be completely inept at curling my hair. I’ve tried a flat iron, the automatic, spinning irons, and the irons without a clip. I decided to go old-school and try a curling iron that had a clip like I used to use in the 80s. I’m glad I did because I was finally able to get a nice loose, wavy curl in my below the shoulder length hair. I have only two complaints: 1) There is no auto shut off; & 2) it broke, stopped heating up, after three months. So some quality and safety issues, but in terms of ease of use, love this iron!
