Thick hair BLESSING

This is long but important. I have Very thick, African American hair (bra strap length, natural/no perm etc) I'm going to preface this by saying this review is only for my sisters in struggle - sisters with hair that takes an hour to blow dry level thick... hair that you take to a Dominican salon and wait in line for an hour and a half STANDING UP when you feel like getting a press because you're arms are not strong enough to do your own hair plus you know no one else can ever *quite* get the roots right... Sisters whose momma's might've disregarded their life safety by heating up an actual hot iron comb on the stove burner in order to lay your edges on Sundays and thus you are simultaneously immune to heat in the scalp area but also traumatized, thus you straighten your hair only occasionally and with extreme caution. This review is for YOU my friend. Context: In my youth I lived in New York and went to the local Dominican salon every Saturday because I didn't know what to do with my hair and I worked in the type of places where natural hair was frowned upon. Eventually I fixed my life and moved to California where I no longer bear the burden of EFFs for white tears and do what I want when I want and how I want. This means that my hair is a big, curly Glory most of the time and I only straighten it about once every 2 months when I want to change the game. This is important because I don't know the effects of this iron for every day use. ANYWAY, I used to have a chi and that was turrible. TURRIBLE. It was $100 and the plates snagged my hair and weren't log enough to be useful. I could only do less than 1/2" sections at a time and each piece needed like 3 runs be user the pressure was also turrible resulting in a minimum 2 hr ordeal post blow dry (note: if you're reading this like "what that's crazy my hair only takes 45 minutes" again... This review ain't for you) . Honestly it might as well have been a gold painted golden hot curling iron from 1984 for all it did. Plus it never got my roots right and my ends were always trash. ENTER THIS BLESSING. A legit game changer. The silkiness... The smoothness... I felt like Beyoncé circa crazy in love. I've never written an Amazon review in my life but the trap gawds are working thru me right now- gonna go head and break it down: - heat settings the 375/410 degrees is THE BIDNESS. 375 on edges and small pieces 410 on the big chunks - what this means is my press took 45 MINUTES.... FORTY FIVE MINUTES. And if I was even remotely good at flipping the ends that would've been faster (practice makes perfect but I recommend getting a heat glove if you're awkward as I am). I was worried about going too hot just cuz I could but I didn't even feel the need to get to 450 - the plates were long and strong- NOoo snagging!! Smoothe plates, hair never got stuck, no tears for my fallen end pieces. For those commenters complaining that the plates don't close... As a thickly thickum I'll say this was not the case. Whatever the gap might be my hair was thick enough to fill it and the plates applied very even pressure. - if i could change anything, it would be the ability to lock the buttons... My errant awkward hands weren't great at avoiding those Anywho, This is joy and I love this inanimate object. That is all, make the right choice.

Mea Culpa

It may seem strange to give a 5 star review on an item that I returned, but here goes... I purchased this flat iron as a backup to the one I've had for many years. My current flat iron shuts off as soon as you hit the button. The one I bought as a backup didn't shut off after tapping several times. I thought there must be something wrong with it so I returned it. I later learned that the button should be held down for a few seconds, unlike my older flat iron, and it will then turn off. And so, do not hesitate to purchase, it's a great flat iron.

Great Straightener!

This is the first time that a purchase has impressed me enough to write a review. I have long, thick, naturally curly hair. I have been attempting to straighten my hair for the last 9.5 years. I have gone through many different brands and plate types. My last 2 straighteners have been the T3 brand. I thought those were impressive until using this product. I have had to use many products as well as taking a least 30 minutes to straighten my hair in the past. I would always end up with areas that were not as straight or as smooth as I would like. I would run out of time and just have to deal with it or pull it up into a ponytail after all of that time wasted. The first time I used this straightener I was instantly impressed and wishing I would have known about this years ago. My hair is perfectly straight within minutes. It feels soft and smooth and it stays that way for the entire day and even through the night. When I wake up in the morning I am able to use my dry shampoo and complete a quick touch up and be out the door in minutes. It heats up very quickly. I do not need any product applied to my hair. I never knew what I was missing and I will recommend this product to anyone looking for a new straightener! You won't be sorry!

Rarely do I treat myself with something that has this price tag, however the pictures speak for themselves. I have thick curly hair and have struggled finding a flat iron that doesn't leave my hair frizzy. This iron is the best and worked with ease. It left my hair feeling smooth and manageable in just a few passes. My hair is really thick so it did take quite a few passes to get it as straight as I did. Best purchase I've made for myself in a long time. It's worth it! (Don't forget your heat protectant!)

which works great for me

Took a little getting used to. I have used several different brands of flat irons over the years, CHI, USmooth, HSI. I was concerned about the overall thickness of the unit when I received it and of the location of the on/off and temp buttons. The Usmooth that I replaced was DIGITAL - it showed a temp...you set it in 10 degree increments from 300 to 430 (I think) This says digital, to me that means you see numbers when you set. NO - you set it with a -/+ buttons there are 5 settings. The instruction booklet tells you what temp each is. I think #4 is 410 degrees. The first couple times I used it, the temp button kept changing - to avoid accidentally hitting it, I was holding it the controls away from my hand. Maybe laying it on the counter is what was changing the setting. I am now holding it with the controls towards my palm and have no issues. Definitely can do thicker sections as the heating element is longer than any of my previous irons. This is 1 1/4 wide, which works great for me. My hair is naturally wavy/curly fairly thick and will frizz in humidity if I don't flat iron. Shoulder length shaggy bob with bangs, so a lot of different lengths and layers, this iron works great, I think I am gonna love it now that I am used to it!

So far I really love this straightener. I`ve been straightening my hair for years and used to have everything from Conair to Chi. But this is my first Titanium Plated one (my first BaByliss too). My hairdresser explained that this type of plate is best for my hair type because my hair is thick (not very thick, but not thin) and wavy. I use the 410 temp and honestly I run this through the hair ONLY ONCE (I don`t go too fast though..slow but keep it moving down) and it is pin straight. I`m so happy with that! With the previous ones I used I almost always had to go through the pieces AT LEAST twice. I also think because my hair is longer the 1 1/4 inch one is better than 1 inch. I recommend for everyone to try this one if you are not satisfied with your current straightener. I usually wash my hair every 3-4 days so I do have to do some quick follow ups every morning, but it heats up fast and it really makes my hair straight and soft. I do use a heat protection spray.

Great straightener

I replaced my Chi with this straightener and I'm so glad I did. The plates slide smoothly over my hair with no pulling or catching like would occasionally happen with my Chi. Even though I bought the larger, 1 1/4 inch style I can still easily turn the straightener 90 degrees to create loose, beachy waves. I love that you can adjust the heat settings with the push of a button. A word of warning though- if you have overly processed or damaged hair do NOT turn this bad boy up all the way! A couple weeks after I bought this I had an ombré done to my hair and after bleaching the ends the high heat of the straightener was too much and fried them a little bit. Totally user error, I should have turned the heat down before using it on my over processed ends. Now I keep the heat on the middle setting and it produces smooth, silky hair. For reference I have a lot of long, naturally curly but somewhat fine hair that is colored every 6 weeks or so. I used to have to straighten it daily but with this straightener it stays straight for days (and I live in hot, humid Florida). Love it!

I have thin and fine hair, over the years of perms, and colors, I have lost a lot of my hair, and too top it off, when it dries, it dries frizzy, I have spent so much money on different products and different appliances and still could not get rid of the frizzes. So I used my babyblisspro and I could not believe how much it helped, not just with straightening out my very fine hair but also giving it a nice shine. I am thrilled, like most women if your hair looks good, it just makes you feel good.
