We live in an apartment and have a toddler that loves to explore. Most of the time we give him free reign of the kitchen cabinets - no toy we purchase comes close to the draw of tupperware, bowls, and a pantry - but of course we want to lock the chemicals and such. I'd hemmed and hawed about which kind of lock to get, but decided to try these and I'm glad I did! I read the instructions a few times and played with the pieces before installing so it could all sink in, but once I got it, it clicked and made sense I felt ready to get started. (Luckily there are a bunch of extra pads and pieces in case you mess up, like I did) Aside from reading the instructions carefully and taking your time getting started, my biggest piece of advice is regarding how to use the key. At first I was getting pretty frustrated with the key - I'd place it over the lock, could hear the click, but when I moved the key away and tried to open the door, it wouldn't budge. The key would be very finnicky with how it would work sometimes and other times not. The trick to getting it open, I learned, is to basically use two hands - keep the key on the door over the lock, and open the door with the other hand. Keeping the key over the lock as you open it has yielded me a smooth open every time, no more frustration! tl;dr - read the directions carefully for install, and keep the key over the lock while opening the door

I have cabinets I HAVE to keep my granddaughter out of and these work great for that. They can be a little difficult to get set exactly how I need them for the door to open because I have baskets that hang over some of my doors but once you get them set and attached they stay well and so far my granddaughter can't get them open
