Description

Baader’s 6.5mm Morpheus eyepiece has a full 76-degree apparent field of view for an immersive astronomical viewing experience. This premium astronomy eyepiece provides a long 18.5mm eye relief to allow a comfortable viewing position, even for observers who wear eyeglasses. The careful and sophisticated optical design of this eyepiece, which includes 8 lenses in 5 groups, enables superb visual images of stars, galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, and other astronomical objects with minimal distortion right to the edge of the field of view. This compact and lightweight eyepiece weighs only 12.3oz. These eyepieces are designed for years of trouble-free field use and feature a weather-sealed housing to keep dust and moisture out. When used in a matched pair, Morpheus eyepieces work well in astronomy binoviewers (not included) for a comfortable two-eyed viewing experience. The eyepiece also features a M43 adapter thread to enable astronomical imaging through the eyepiece itself (requires Baader M43-T2 adapter or Baader Hyperion Digital T-rings, both sold separately). Important note: Depending on your telescope, this eyepiece may provide a magnification that is too high to provide a sufficiently sharp and bright image, especially when used in some binoviewing systems. As a rule of thumb, with a very good telescope, the maximum magnification you will be able to use is about 30-50x per inch of telescope aperture depending on the sky conditions. For example, if you have a telescope with 6” (150mm) aperture, then the maximum magnification is 180x to 300x. To calculate the magnification of your telescope with an eyepiece, take the focal length of your telescope and divide it by the focal length of the eyepiece. If you choose an eyepiece that gives a magnification that is too high, you may be disappointed by the view, but it is not the fault of the eyepiece!
