Flight planning is much easier to do and learn when you have the right tools. This one is pretty good. The markings are inside the plastic surface so they will not scratch off but keep in mind that all these plotters can scratch and get hard to read so keep it in its case to protect it. Comes with instructions that will not be enough to learn how to fully use this but will be a good refresher when flight planning. Even has a part of a sectional so you can practice a few things on it. The case is 14 and a half by 5 inches so it will fit in most flight bags. Somewhat flexible. One tool you will definitely need when you learn to flight plan.

I had a hard time figuring this out, even though I'm smart, highly educated, and mechanically inclined. The instructions are terse. After wrestling with it for an hour or so, it seemed remarkably easy, in retrospect. Still, I like the parallel rules and Portland plotter better. I'm not a flyer; I want a tool for boating, and the distance scales on this device are specific to aviation charts, apparently. To use this tool, it helps to have a divider or compass point to stabilize it, because lining up both ends and the middle simultaneously is tricky. Still, it is a nifty device at a bargain price.

The media could not be loaded. The SimCoach Plotter is crystal clear with crisp print. This plotter is easy to use with a fixed compass. It has both WAC and Sectional measurements in both nautical and statute miles. This functions as designed and you won't be disappointed. This is well made. It also comes in a handy vinyl case to protect it when in your flight bag.
