  • A7X Self titled Album is a Must Listen
The record was shipped securely, with no damage, or warps. As for the album itself, their self titled album is absolutely incredible. Most people will recognize almost easy, afterlife, and Critical Aclaim. But this album has a lot to offer, from bromptin cocktails groovy riff, to unbounded unique sound. Everything on this record is a must listen. ... show more

  • Best album yet
This is by far A7x's best cd. The music is much more mature and has a more solid sound. The music is harder but there is a really diverse blend on here. I love hearing The Rev sing on a couple of these songs. The more I listen to this cd the more I love it and now I listen to it constantly. It is always playing in my car and on my computer. I honestly could not get into City of Evil. There were a few good songs on there but the rest were crap. There is not one bad song on Avenged Sevenfold. Even the very strange A Little Piece of Heaven has become one of my favs. I look forward to hearing the next A7X album even though the unbelievably talented Rev will not be a part of it :( ... show more

  • Another masterpeice
I wrote a review of Nightmare not so long ago saying it was a masterpeice of musical talent sort of spaking. I just listen to this album from Avenged Sevefold and I have to say that it is another masterepice by this band. For the critics out there I can understand how some of you say that is Avenged Sevenfold's black album. Just like Metallica did so long ago, made some die hardcore fans lose intrest in a band that they love. I personally have to say that I love certain metal and rock bands, I'm enjoying this band more and more as they mature in their songs and lryics. I enjoy the songs Afterlife, Little peice of Heaven, Lost, But what got me was the ending mixture of Rock and Country feel to the guitar called Dear God. But just like Nightmare listen to this album with an open mind and see feel the lryics as the singer shows you another journey the band went threw to make this album for their fans and make some new fans along with way. ... show more

  • Is this really the album that defines them?
I have to say that I was very disappointed with this album when it came out. It wasn't like City of Evil as much as I would have liked, and all the metal influences had pretty much be toned down to the point that this was a rock band that wasn't all that hard anymore. In retrospect, I can't exactly say that I blame them, because I really don't know if I would have wanted them to keep making the same album over and over again, and while I will lambast many of the fans who criticize the band for not sounding enough like their previous album, I will say that the changes for this album were the least to my liking of all the incarnations that the band have made through their career. I hate that this was the last album that Rev was a part of and really wish that he had been around to make another opus, but this really isn't a bad album. I kind of resent that THIS is the self titled album, as if the band were trying to convince fans or themselves that this album was their crowning achievement, much like Metallica's Black Album, or The Beatles White Album. Plenty of fans have called this the White album, and I can't help but to just have to get over it and think of it as a single album, and it does work well as an album. There is a very deliberate shift in their music that is more rhythmic than any of their other albums. This is my female friend's favorite album because they can dance to it. I am not saying that these are bad qualities, but the guitar parts really do seem to be toned down some to a more generic structure that supports the base, much like a nu metal band. But I will say that if it is going to be considered a nu metal album, then it is a very good one that does not fall into many of the trappings that plagued that genre of music. There is a lot more synth elements to this album, and really is more a wall of sound that aren't really metal sounds. A7X have always said that they are not trying to fall into any genre and that they are their own sound, which I respect, and I do respect this album and what it is trying to achieve, but it is probably the album that stays in the stereo the least of all their albums. ... show more

  • Awesome Album!
There are some albums out there that are so good you tell all your friends about it, and this is one of them. The songs are different, interesting, and energizing. The last thing I want to hear is the same song with different lyrics 10 times. I hadn't heard of this band before, and hearing this album made me go back to their previous albums which also had some great tracks on them. The only oddity on this CD is the last two tracks. The second to last seems kind-of like an experiment, and the last track is country I think.. It's good, but I'm not sure it fits with the first two tracks which are AWESOME if you like heavy metal. ... show more
