Shimano derailleur and trigger shifters made this a no brainer for a starter bike with gears for a kid. My little one is 5 and this fits him well with the saddle all the way at the bottom. He’s pretty advanced so I wouldn’t recommend this for very many 5 year olds but it fits him to where he can straddle the bike and feet touch the ground. The set up was very simple. You do have to tune the derailleur, set up and tune the brakes, etc so if you’re not good at that I’d recommend dropping it off at a bike shop and letting them do it. I work with my hands and tools for a living. A simple YouTube search and it was roadworthy in about an hour tops out of the box. Pleasantly surprised with how simple the tuning and set up was. The box came damaged and there is some rash on it as you can see here and the front wheel is slightly warped. I chose not to return it and it’s all working out great. ... show more

I like that it was simple to put together and that the bike seems easy to ride for my son. I don't like that there were some minor scratches on the bike. The bike seems pretty light and the seat was adjustable enough for me to let my just turned 6 year old be able to hop on and off the bike. This is a great bike for him to grow into. ... show more

The bike looks nice but I got 2 bikes, 1 tire won’t hold air, 2 are hard to inflate, and the 4th is fine. The gear shifter does not shift correctly and I’m trying to figure out how to adjust it before Christmas. The brakes are not set correctly and need to be highly adjusted. The chain is also junk. One of the links binds and does not travel freely over the sprockets. I tried to go on the Amazon seller page to contact the seller but they don’t have that option. ... show more

Bike came well protected and in good shape. Easy to put together and even came with the needed tools. My daughter loves it, easy to shift, brakes work well and the top bar is low allowing for her to stand flat foot as needed. Highly recommend.

My son has been riding dirt bikes since he was 3 and now he is 7. I’m starting to ride my bike more so I got this so he could keep up with me, turns out I had trouble keeping up with him on this. Where to start... I guess the place to start is just out of the box. It came nicely packed, but that was about all that was nice. The brakes need adjustment so they don't drag, the cables are too long and hard to adjust without a degree in bicycle mechanics. The derailer won't hit the top or bottom gear without being tuned. So, I called our local bike shop and they turned me away as it would cost more than the bike did to get it in perfect shape. So, unless you are a bike mechanic yourself, I would pass this one by and find a local bike shop in your area and have a long chat with them about what you are looking for and what you'd like to spend for you kiddo's next bike and their safety! ... show more
