I purchased the Eco Spin Dryer, I use it in my bathtub and it does exactly what I bought it for; to spin the excess DRIPPING water out of my clothes. It doesn't spin them "dry" they are still "wet" and so I still hang my clothes to dry. But when I wash my clothes by hand I don't wring them out and I hardly ever even just squeeze them out instead I hang them above the tub and I put a fan in the room for my clothes to DRIP DRIP DRIP. When they are finished dripping then I hang them on the drying racks in an, out of the way area, in the living room. In the living room I still put down floor towels for them and a fan. I do not like leaving them in the bathroom for hours to do all their dripping because: 1. then the bathroom tub is occupied and 2. Humidity: where I live our weather-our humidity is already something like 90% so the air conditioner actually has to work double time to pull even more humidity out of my home. So that's why I love this Eco Spin Dryer because I can quickly spin and drain ALL that excess water out of the clothes (less humidity) and immediate free the bathroom up by hanging them in my, out of the way area, in my living room. I wash and rinse my clothes by hand and I like that much better but I do also like this spin dryer for a little extra rinse cycle for my clothes. I washed three pants (one at a time) two jeans shorts & 2 blouses together, three shirts, one cardigans sweater both my own hand washing technique and also this Eco Spinner plus hanging them to dry it took me two and half hours -it was a laborious physical work out. But I was able to wash & dry them separately (I wanted that), I saved the money from the laundromat (well eventually I will recoup), and I didn't have to leave my home to get my laundry washed and dried. The reason I most want to hand wash my clothes is to be able to wash & dry a lot of items separately without having to spend an extra $3 at the laundromat -I usually just say o well and throw them all in the washer / dryer together. Only one day, my first day with my new Eco Spin Dryer and so far I'm really happy with it.

I do a lot of running, and since washing my workout shirts & shorts in the regular washer/dryer was causing them to tear and fall apart, I started washing them by hand. Wringing them dry one article of clothing at a time was too tiresome and time consuming, so I bought this thing to batch that process and speed it up. The EcoSpin did that, and the included plastic hanger with drying clips was a nice bonus. Now, when I first got this thing, I loved that it did what I wanted that I overlooked its glaring design flaws: - It's a plastic lid that "locks" into place using four flimsy plastic tabs that catch on plastic stops on the rim of the base unit. Since plastic isn't a solid durable material, this thing has a limited expiration date. - There's no gasket, so even when you fill with water below the max line, it's still prone to leak water out of the side and make a mess - The rubber feet on the base are flimsy low-quality plastic that's not able to retain a suction creating curved shape. At best, one or two will catch, causing the unit to rotate as you spin the handle. This forces you to hug it to keep it in place while you spin the drum. Factor in the point above, that means you end up wet too. As I was doing a load of laundry earlier today, the crank handle stalled and the unit stopped working, as shown in the included video. At the end of the video, you can also see that the lid is already missing one screw (which I never noticed fall out), and that the other two are already coming loose. All of the centrifugal force involved with operating this thing is too much for the simplistic design and cheap materials they used to make this. According to the warranty, they'll replace defective parts for the first year, but you've got to pay the shipping costs. I purchased this on July 20th, and had it fail little over a month later on September 9th. I don't expect a provided replacement part to last longer than the remainder of the warranty period, and it's not eligible for return through Amazon. This would be an amazing product if it it employed gaskets and were made of a heavier metal material to keep it in place when spinning. As it's constructed now, it's a $70 pitfall that's going to cost you more in frustration and shipping costs for replacement parts. Stay away from this.

Ordered it yesterday it arrived today. The EcoSpin makes hand washing cloths much easier. There is a learning curve and with a little patience I was able to use it without it bucking around. The suction cups are useless. Perhaps Avalon is concerned that stronger suction would make the bucket hard detach from the surface. I tried using some non slip padding underneath. That kept it from sliding around the counter but it still wobbled back and forth during the spinning. I ended up replacing 2 of the suction cups with ones had on a soap caddy. Made a world of difference. It does a great job wringing out the excess water and cloths dry so much faster. If the suction cups weren’t so cheap, I would have given it 5 stars. If you hate laundromats as much as I do this is definitely worth the money. I love that I don’t have to worry about electrical parts breaking down. April 8th 2019 update After 9 months of nearly everyday use the Ecospin handle broke. I emailed the company to purchase a replacement lid and they are sending a new unit. I just have to pay $10.71 shipping. I don’t understand all the negative reviews. I love this little washer. Here are a few tips: Most modern tubs have slip free surfaces preventing suction cups from sticking. Plus having to lean into the tub is hard on the back. I use it on the bathroom sink and fill with the shower hose or on the kitchen counter. I don’t bother trying to spin clean clothes. The handle doesn’t rotate back and forth easily once it’s filled with water and cloths. It’s much easier to let them soak for an hour or overnight and then agitate the water with hands for a few minutes. You don’t have to lock it closed to spin dry. But if you do lock it and can’t get it opened but on a pair of rubber gloves, press down and turn. Don’t overload! It can only do one pair of jeans at a time. I even wash my expensive full sheets but only one at a time. If it bucks around during spin dry you are overloaded or unevenly loaded. Try removing an item or redistributing cloths evenly. Love this machine. I only have to go to a laundry mat every other month to wash towels. Well it March 2020 and my little Spinner still looks and works like new. I use it at least 3 times a week. It saves me the inconvenience of dragging my laundry to some dirty dangerous public laundromat. I’m still very satisfied.

I have been researching off grid washing techniques and I really wanted something that would wring out the clothes for me because that is my LEAST favorite part of hand washing. I have been using the EcoSpin as a washer and "spin dryer" for all of our socks, underwear, dish towels, or a few tshirts at a time for the past 2 weeks. It works great as a spin dryer no dripping wet clothes on the drying rack! My number one complaint is that IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE THE LID AFTER WASHING GET THE CLOTHES OUT! Takes me forever to try to grip the little groves and get it off.. even my body-building husband has given up with frustration. Next I am worried about the lifetime of this because the plastic it is made from is very flimsy and the turning handle often seems it will just break off! It also drops off some plastic dust from inside the handle as you turn (i oiled it to keep this from happening). Made cheaply for the price of the product. I planed to use it to wash cloth diapers(prefolds), but I don't think it will work efficiently to wash them without lots and lots of effort. However it will save my hands from wringing! Takes a little while to figure out the best method for detergent to get the clothes drying soft, but I got the hang of it now! I will have to save up to try the other Avalon Washer but for now I'm back to the bucket plunger method which goes much smoother now I can spin dry! First, I purchased a hand crank washer like the EcoWash a couple months ago thinking of doing away with my front load washer and gas dryer. I wasn't all that happy with it. The frame was very rickety like it was going to break apart under the weight of water and wet clothes inside. Everything else about the washer was nice; the quality of the drum, the lid, and the hand crank. I never used it again after the first couple tries. A few days ago my front load washer stopped working. I'm not going to get it repaired, instead I ordered this ecospin washer. I expected cheap plastic but was actually impressed with the quality of the plastic drum and the lid. I had to do 5 loads which would have been equivalent to one load in the front load washer. I used the same water for each load. I placed a clean bucket beside the ecospin and after each load instead of draining out the water I put the washed clothes in the bucket. When I was finished with washing, I drained out the water and used the ecospin like a colander. I sprayed water on the clothes one load at a time, then spun them dry in my little turbo spinner that spins at more than 1700 rpm. Yeah, it requires electricity but only for about 30-45 seconds! Spinning for longer than that is a waste. This system seems like it's going to work out pretty well. Being as graceful as I am, I spilled my lunch on my sweatshirt earlier in the day and even though I didn't pretreat it before putting it in the ecospin washer it came out nice and clean. I'm hoping by only using the hand crank during the wash cycle and not the rinse or spin dry cycle the ecospin will last a long time. Now, about the the EcoWash look alike hand crank washer I'm not using, it will come in handy when my gas dryer quits too. I'm going to use it like the air fluff cycle on the dryer. By not filling it with water the frame should be fine. I'm going to put a couple dry towels and a couple dryer balls inside the drum with freshly spun out clothes and crank for about 5 minutes or so. This should require no muscle whatsoever since there is no water inside. When spinning out clothes in the little turbo spinner, they get pretty wrinkled. The EcoWash look alike washer along with a couple dry towels and a couple dryer balls should remedy that problem nicely.

I had issues from the get-go-- just with the darn lid! It's rather confusing, trying to figure out which direction I needed to screw the lid off and which direction to screw it on. If I didn't put it on correctly, and tried to spin it, the lid would come off in my hand. That happened a few times, and the hard plastic parts on the underside of the lid would scratch my knuckles! This thing can possibly lead to a watery mess, so I used it on the kitchen counter: a setting that can handle water spills. I have lots of clothes to clean, joint issues, and limited upper body strength. It is waaay too small to wash more than 3 of my clothing items at a time, which for me means doing 5 loads of laundry with 3 items per load. It's ridiculously tiny: I may as well use a salad spinner! (Couldn't they have made the EcoSpin slightly bigger??) Cranking this thing by hand over & over for several loads of laundry was a real pain. That "spinning" action--oh my goth... In demonstrations, this machine is only cranked 2 minutes to wash and 30 seconds to spin most of the water out. It must have been a joke, cuz the 30 second "spin cycle" didn't wring out the water no matter how little water I used! I would be cranking that lever for 3 minutes, and I still ended up with soaking wet clothes that I had to wring out myself. I DO have something good to say about it. I like the idea of this product: planet-friendly, needs no electricity, uses very little water, lightweight, and easily portable. It could be great for off-grid living, an RV trip, or someone with a minimalist lifestyle who doesn't have much clothing. But with all the problems I had, I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. Lastly, I think it's too expensive! I'm embarrassed to state that I paid $59.99 for this overgrown salad spinner, and if someone REALLY wants this thing, try to get it for free, or make one of your own. It's not worth it at any price, so save your coins!

I always found it a hassle to do laundry as I'd have to go find coins, go down to the basement of my building where the machines were, go up and down stairs, carry a big laundry load, etc. But this thing actually changed my life! At first I didn't think that such a cheap thing would even make a dent but it really has proved itself in the several months since I've had it. I use it constantly. For everything. I don't even use washing/drying machines anymore. First, it's always in my shower. I do my laundry every day now in what I call a Micro-Load: 1 underwear, 2 socks, 1 shirt - that's it! And every other day or two I throw in pants. It takes roughly 5 minutes with this thing and it's the easiest thing ever. I throw my clothes in there, add water using faucet inside my shower, add soap. Spin it for 2 minutes using a 2 minute hourglass that I have next to my tub. Next, I open the drain latch, and just let the water from the shower head rinse off the soap for a few more minutes, sometimes I even shower with it as I do it! I then spin dry it for about 30 seconds. Last thing, I attach the clothes onto my trusty Air King Industrial grade fan with some clothespins. 45 minutes later, my clothes are dry and ready to go. Sometimes I do this an hour before I go out. That's how efficient this is. It really has changed my life and my clothes smell much better than using machines. This thing has taught me to be more efficient. I've reduced the amount of clothes in my wardrobe to 30% of what they used to be and now I only wear my favorite clothes. I now save money, water, and electricity. It just really has warped my perception on washing clothes, which was always the chore I hated to do most, but not anymore thanks to EcoSpin!

Clothes washed best when soaked in the tub without the basket, then agitated by hand, then rinsed throughly, placed back in the basket, and spun to dry. Bought this to use in my RV. It’s hard to get the basket positioned so it isn’t off balance due to there being several in necessary holes in the bottom. The basket should rest on top of a metal pole in the bottom that would allow it to spin freely. Second issue, the lid does stay closed. Once you start spinning in the direction that opens the lids, as there isn’t a latch. it slides open and you have to try to hold it down while it is spinning because the suction cups don’t Hold on the textured shower floor. The drain tube is flimsy plastic and not a real hose, if it were it would be easy to attach a valve to open or close the drain as needed. Tried on the counter top as well, it turned into a watery mess which I don’t want in my RV. My husbands idea was to use it outside. Again, there isn’t anywhere that I could secure the suction cups on the bottom so when the basket is off balance and the whole thing starts spinning and bouncing all over and the drain tube pops off it’s cheesy little hook then the lid opens and I heroically try to stop it with my bare hands only for it to top over, dumping out all the clothes so I can go back to the beginning and start again. It’s too late to return it. Will make an epic water bowl for the dogs.
